YAGT: Bought my first firearm

I picked up the Walther P22. It's a 2011 or "BB" manufacture, with a "Z" serial number. The magazine is not labeled so I must assume they are either "B" revision or perhaps even a newer one.

First thing to notice is that the grip pattern has changed. It is now randomly organized raised crescents with raised dots interspersed, instead of the grid of raised dots. The keyed safety above the above the trigger is no longer there. I think the shape of the grip must be slightly different because it has a much better feel than previous models I've held.

I haven't put any rounds through it yet, but I'm hoping that Walther and/or Smith & Wesson took some tips from the P22 bible and made some factory mods to improve reliability.

I'm planning on getting the Walther P22 laser since it fits the contours of the weapon nicely. I need to go pick up a few boxes of CCI Stingers to run through this to break it in some. I'll report back on performance after putting a few hundred rounds down range.

Sounds like a decently fun gun. God bless cheap ammunition: you don't spend less money on ammo, you just get more ammo.

I want to shoot one. I wouldn't mind that gun for a daily carry

22 is not a great carry weapon. But dont take my word for it. Join some gun forums and ask. There will be a flame/helpful ratio of about 100:1, but that one post will be very good quality.

It's certainly better than nothing and low recoil makes for better accuracy and good for smaller people. A .22 round in any vital organ will still kill you and anywhere else will hurt like a son of a gun after shock wears off.

Are there hammer extensions? The hammer is so small it's hard for me to decock it.

And this argument gets beat down constantly.

Probably provision in cities against allowing a .22 for CCW.

You sure about that?

I have a Walther P22 in my arsenal. This is definitely a fun little pistol and very controllable. I have the compensated model. I wish someone made 15 or 20 round magazines for this model. I'm not sure I would want to CC this little flea flicker but it's better than nothing I suppose. Because it is so controllable you can dump all 10 rounds very accurately and very quickly, even with one hand. One hand point shooting is probably my favorite way to shoot this pistol. I certainly wouldn't want to have someone dump the mag from one of these into me, and inside 10 feet it's point and click.

I see Walther is offering a new version with a carbon fiber frame and the gun weighs in at only 15 ounces. Not bad!

Yeah I know that they are not great carry weapon. My problem is that I don't like the size of a Taurus 24/7 Pro to carry :\

Just picked up 1500 rounds of CCI mini-mags, some colibri, super colibri, stingers, and SSS. Laser and adapter thread with TAC 65 barrel extender in the mail.
