Once again it isn't safe for a black person to knock on a door. I need to send this thread to Nikki Haley.

He wasn't shot at, he was shot. "Shot at" implies they attempted to shoot him but missed.

Thing that stood out to me though, was the police statement:
'Police said Monday the case is still under investigation and officers "will be writing a warrant" on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.'

Wow...fucking Texas for ya. Aggravated assault? The guy was trying to kill him, and might've if not for that tablet. It should be attempted murder, FFS.

Guess which Nashville-based Grammy award winning artist had a simple resolution commending them go forward in the Tennessee state legislature for their achievement, and which had an identical simple resolution rejected, by Republican objection, last week:

We saw how the Tennessee legislature treated its black members. Just another racist wing of the racist Republican Party.

Props to Haley Williams for not only standing up for Allison Russell but for calling out that legislature for who they are, bigots.

Black Student’s Suspension Over Hairstyle Didn’t Violate Law, Texas Judge Rules https://www.nytimes.com/2024/02/22/....WZYT.06Pg2hQ38t1X&smid=nytcore-android-share

School has arbitrary dress code that disproportionately impacts black students and their hairstyles, but apparently, that's okay in the great state of Texas.
Well that was a mighty white ruling from that judge. Even after a writer of the bill testified that the intent was different than how the school district was applying the law.

Not to mention the fucking waste of tax payer dollars just to force a kid to cut his hair. Just so fucking dumb on the part of the school district.

I know - it's so mind bogglingly stupid.

Hold up! We’re sorry about those 30 days off…

LMPD reduces punishment for ex-supervisor connected to Slushygate

Louisville Metro Police has downgraded the punishment for a former supervisor the department said knew about drink-throwing "Slushygate" attacks by officers in his unit but did nothing to stop it, reducing his original 30-day suspension to 10.

Caught this one this morning. Not only was he a military member, there was a witness the cops couldn't shoot:
2 questions.

Police tactics? Is this is how they are supposed to enter a home?

Gun ownership. I want to hear all the gun owners comment on this interaction. Would Fortson have been justified shooting the cops if he could?

There was a time when they needed to identify themselves before entering the home, I don't believe that is the case anymore.

For my personal opinion, yes, he would have been justified in shooting anyone who came through that door unannounced with the intent to harm him. He's under no obligation to understand the intricacies of why they're busting down his door.

They need to get rid of no-knock warrants or at least limit them far more than is done now. Hell, cops can get a no-knock for something as minor as suspected theft. Does that justify the extra danger it puts officers AND the suspect in? And anyone in surrounding dwellings? So stupid.

I’m pretty sure that police still need to identify themselves, even before kicking down the door, unless it’s a no-knock warrant.
Welp this time they've got it on video that they didn't. Unannounced door bash followed by gunfire for a supposed domestic disturbance.

Any home invader should be shot dead.
You can be sure certain they would try and convict.
You can also be sure I would acquit an innocent person who was defending themselves.

Unfortunately, these police style home invasions basically never end with the victim surviving.

This is insane why the police do this sort of crap, and they should be held responsible for his death.

He would be well within his rights to blast every one of those police when they broke into his apt.

I was wondering is he looked and the police were all in plain cloths with no identifying vest etc... or what? And No Knock warrants should be illegal. This is just as bad what good does it do to knock and not identify yourself.

He was held responsible. He was put on paid administrative leave until he gets cleared of all charges.
