Sure that's what police are for. Violently arrest a family because a 4 year old took a .99 cent doll. Meanwhile white guys on wall street stole trillions. Did we see any arrests like this or at all??
It's hard sometimes to detect sarcasm/satire over the internet, but I can assure you DK was just making an over the top comment to display the absurdity of the converse. It's well inline with his posting patterns.
On "white collar" crime. It's just absurd; it shouldn't make a damn bit of sense what they get away with. However, they've had the government in their pocket for quite some time. Paul Manafort's punishment, for example, aside from the forfeitures of his ill-gotten gains are like getting caught with a bit of weed and having the book thrown at you. The forfeitures of his assets shouldn't factor into the sentencing in my opinion, the seized assets were the fruits of his tax evasion. Just losing the assets should not constitute punishment for that crime and should stack on his other crimes. The factors that determine whether the book gets thrown at you are out of whack in this country - justice isn't blind. Green is the color that matters most of all. I feel like things are starting to change, but it unfortunately takes generations. I remember feeling ashamed of the way my grandpas talked about and treated persons of color. It took centuries to get to where this country was, and it is unsatisfyingly slow in progress to reverse it. It is well apparent that not everyone felt the same sort of disgust with the conditions they saw growing up. However, I think and hope things will continue to pick up momentum.
Edit: You know what, story time. I've posted earlier that I was a Navy brat until my dad got into a bad car accident and was medically discharged. One of the great things about our military is that you are put on equal footing on any type of differences of race, creed, or whatever the fuck else doesn't really matter. The same happens for the families attached to the service-people. I was 4 years old when this happened, a boy a bit older than me but probably within the single digits of age, was swinging an about 10 foot metal fence post at a slide. I have 2 redeemable qualities as a person; I am reasonably intelligent and stubborn as a mule. Stubborn as a mule won out in this instance, I picked up a like 3-4 gallon container for bubbles and the wand. It was a sword and shield, there was two girls on top of the slide screaming and crying as Kevin banged the pole against the side of the slide. I went in with my "sword and shield" and took a slow lumbering swing to the head. I went down and smashed my head on the pavement. An African American teenage girl came running, scooped me up, and took me home. She turned into an NFL running back to get me home and safe. I guess I probably would have been fine otherwise, but when I heard my grandpas say stuff like lazy N words ... just no.
Fun side fact: that family's yard is where I found out I was allergic to bee stings, because I stomped one in their lawn and ended up in the ER. I guess my best quality is being stubborn.
