I live in the UK. I won't claim to have had a definitive experience of what life is like in the UK in the context of this topic, IMHO while the underlying attitudes with regard to race in the UK are probably similar to the US, I think those attitudes end of being expressed in different ways. I personally haven't heard of a UK version of "someone called 999 because I'm black" in recent memory.

In the UK hate speech is defined in law. When I hear people like my mum go off on one, it's often coupled with, "people can't say what they think any more". It may well be that racist people who think they're respectable/civilised also worry that if they needlessly called 999 to harass non-whites that they might get arrested for it themselves.

Looking for cases of non-white people calling the cops on white people is a logically valid thing to do IMO if you're actually interested: I feel fairly sure in assuming that a common reason why the reverse occurs is because of fear (though xenophobic in nature), and I think it's logically reasonable to assume that non-white people fear white people to at least some extent, so why not look for similar cases with reversed ethnicities. However, I can also think of reasons why non-whites wouldn't want to do this (e.g. not wanting to draw the attention of stereotypically racist LEOs).

What I suggested happens on some juries isn't very broad.

If there's a difference between groups (e.g. black men doing more violent crime), then they're going to be treated differently because biases easily form. When I notice those vehemently opposed to stereotyping can't shed their own or see it in others on "their side", the expectations seem laughable.

I've lived in central Florida for a couple of years now and I see jacked up trucks with big confederate flags about once a month. Just saw one on the local highway a few days ago with two big confederate flags hanging off of the back. I do live in an area where there are newer golf communities and older farms. Mr. D'Andrea was a clean cut, well mannered black man wearing a fucking pink polo shirt! He was so obviously NOT a threat that even Mr. Cukor's young son could see that!

And this is the problem with latent racism and the "fear of the black man." Mr. Cukor is almost assuredly not a member of the KKK and would no doubt strenuously deny that he is any way racist.

But if you don't think that, at least in part, Mr. Cukor racially profiled a obviously harmless young black PROFESSIONAL, and thereby intruded on this young man's day in the most personally demeaning way possible, creating an incident where there was none, then YOU are blind to the ongoing problem of race in America.

In this case - Mr Cukor was exiting his building, and the other gentlemen was FOLLOWING HIM IN from the exit AKA "tailgating". You know, that thing EVERY company tells you to make sure NEVER happens, right? The point is obvious - someone is trying to access a restricted area (owners/renters) with someone that doesn't own or rent the area and isn't being escorted by an appropriate person.

The guy is simply doing what everyone else is too much of a pansy to do in work culture - turn around and tell them to please have authorization instead of tailgating.
