Symptoms:

Dull "ache" in right upper/mid abdomen area (just below ribcage). Very little pain. Only noticeable when bending down, twisting left/right, during bowel movements, or when sneezing. Has persisted for 3-4 days becoming steadily more noticeable but not really painful. Feels more like something "out of place" in there. Have not seen any blood in stool or experienced any accompanying fever so I haven't gone to ER. Currently without a primary care physician (looking for a new one as old one moved.)

So Anandtech doctors, what are your thoughts? Appendix issues? Pancreas? Gallstones? Stomach virus? What should I do?

My first guess would be that you have gas. However, 3-4 days seems to change that. Perhaps your back is out of wack? Often times, if you fall wrong or get tackled or twist wrong (if you're older or out of shape), you can really screw with things.

what is your diet like? does the pain happen more after you eat fatty foods? does it go from front to back or back to front or anything? does anything make it better? what time of the day do you first notice it? do you have young children? have you eaten any shellfish in the past few months?

eits--I haven't really noticed it change back and forth, other than being more noticeable. It's been almost a week now since I first noticed. I don't think it's "moving" either. I have a typical American diet (more on the unhealthy side) and I'm about 40lbs overweight. I do not have young children, and the last time I ate any quantity of shellfish is when I had a crab feast in August. Most recently I may have had a few shrimp 2 weeks back.

for the next couple days, eat really bland, low-fat foods. report back with results.
