You'd get a ticket here for backing into a parking space. So it would be your fault.

It also sounds like it's your fault anyway because....what the fuck who backs into a parking space? Seriously? Were you loading or unloading something that necessitated it? As far as she was concerned, you passed the parking space so you were not parking there, so she was going to. I would have assumed you were going elsewhere also since you went passed the parking space. Of course I probably also would have honked at you once I realized you were backing up.

Next time if you really need to back in, don't go past the parking space. You shouldn't need to go passed it in order to back into it anyway. If you do, then please never put your vehicle in reverse again because you have no idea what the fuck you are doing.

I back into parking spaces, I don't see why that gets everyone so angry. Don't be in such a hurry that you need to dart into the space once I barely get past it and you will see that I'm backing in.

You go past it, you gave it up. No need to go past it to back in. If there is, again, never put your car in reverse again. Or better yet turn in your license because you don't know how to drive.

Oh shut up you mouth breathing troll.

Just because he doesn't do things the way you do or a way you approve of, doesn't mean..well...anything.

I'm sorry if I missed it before. WWYBYWB

WWYDIYHASUYA?

Look, if you can't figure out how to back into a parking space without going past it, then don't bother. Or when you do go past one, don't expect that all the normal people out there won't think you aren't parking there and take the space.

And this idiot was backing into a space so he, and right from his post "to avoid hitting anything when leaving" - well if you can't fucking back out of a space without hitting something you sure as fuck shouldn't be trying to back INTO one - and this is pretty much proven in this thread since he can't even figure out how back it in.

Stick with the spaces that have no other cars by it.

*snip*
I impact her rear right passenger side, right next to the wheel well where the body and door meet. I get hit on the exact edge of my rear right bumper; superficial damage to me.

I know that the impact point makes it look like I'm at fault.

*snip*

Diagram for moar fun here.

She is pulling in nose first, and you hit her in the rear of her car? So she was 75% into the space when you backed into her?

You obviously don't get the point of backing in, I'm not even going to bother trying to argue this.

Uh, there is no fucking point to backing in. It serves no useful purpose whatsoever, unless you need to load or unload something to a nearby building, etc.

I pull past the space exactly 1.5 spaces looking transverse out the parking space to back in. I do it because I think it's a lot safer than backing out blind until half your car is hanging in a live lane if I pull in next to an SUV, which is a lot now.

Do whatever the hell you want, I'm just more comfortable doing it my way.

You go past it by a WHOLE SPACE AND A HALF? Dude, then you would have no reason to expect others behind you NOT to pull in there.

And again, turn in your license since you don't know how to drive. 1.5 spaces past....my god do you drive the HMS Titanic or something?

I back in to a parking space whenever possible. It makes it easier, quicker and safer when it comes time to pull out later. Or in some lots, where spaces are double depth with just lines seperating them, sometimes, you can drive straight in and through so you are still facing out, ready to leave.

These are the best kind of spots since if you want it's possible to hog up 4 spots all to yourself.

I don't understand the "it's safer" argument for backing in to a spot. If you have big cars next to you when you go to leave and can't see you're going to have to edge out slowly regardless of how you parked. If you parked butt-in you're going to have to edge your nose out there until you can see.

Oh, and all bets are off on private property. Likely your insurance will pay for your damage and hers will pay for her damage. Just don't admit fault.

you live in New Jersey, where the hell do you need to be quicker? Wherever you are leaving is probably the main event of the day.
