YACT

nice car, good looking in either previous gen or current gen. (clearer headlights and E-class looking taillights for the newer one).

MUST be a Convertible though... otherwise i feel its pointless to buy a plain clk coupe

cabriolet or coupe?

edit: stupid me, of course it's a coupe, 2003, the cabriolet was the CLK430, it wasn't CLK500 until last year

Unreliable as ever, read the edmunds consumer ratings.

I LOVE the car, but unless you get the AMG version you're paying the mercedes name more than anything else.

do you need a used sports car?

40K can get you a nice new car that IMO will be more usefull then a 2 seater

haven't decided yet.... might go with coupe since I don't find myself ever lowing the hood but then cabriolet gives you that option........

I think it's a pile of scheisse suitable more to a badge whore than someone who actually likes cars. Anyone who pays that much for a used car is still working for a living, and anyone still working for a living shouldn't live so frivolously, in my opinion.

2003 CLK500 means coupe

the cabriolet version that year was the CLK430

Now I really think you're crazy (not that you car, but let me explain).

If you're financing this car then I think it's immediately obvious how absurd and financially immature a move this would be.

If you're buying this car in cash then why in bloody hell would you buy some overpriced POS when you could buy a classic for the weekend drive? You could get a discount on insurance, you could have a greatly superior automobile, and you might actually elicit respect rather than rebuke for driving an overpriced pos.

😀

if your gonna buy a "weekend drive" get a early 70s Porsche 911 - in good condition you can get one for 10-15K and it prob wont need much work other then cosmetics

much better idea IMO and a much cooler car for a "weekend drive" car

I'm just asking the question.... feel free to give your comments. POS or not have you driven it? Please explain.

Thats a great idea but I'm not into old cars with tons of refurb work.

What compels you to buy an unreasonably expensive used car to drive a few hundred miles a month? If you're looking to impress there are better ways to do it financially, and if you're looking for a fun car there are far, far better alternatives.
