40K will get you a brand new G35 coupe with good options

G35? hmmm...no thanks everyone and their grandmom own one....

because it's a sweet car

But not for a "weekend car." That's partially why the Benz is so absurd; who the hell buys a car like that for the weekend? That's like buying a Honda Civic for daily driving and buying a Honda Accord coupe for the weekdn; yes, they're different classes of car, but a weekend car should be unique, inspiring, and above all fun to drive. I don't see the Benz as possessing any of those characteristics.

do you need a used sports car?

40K can get you a nice new car that IMO will be more usefull then a 2 seater

already got a 4 seater.... this will be my weekend drive.

if your gonna buy a "weekend drive" get a early 70s Porsche 911 - in good condition you can get one for 10-15K and it prob wont need much work other then cosmetics

much better idea IMO and a much cooler car for a "weekend drive" car

Thats a great idea but I'm not into old cars with tons of refurb work.

yea thats why to PAY someone to do it for you, get one for 10-15K pay 10K into in and for 20-30 you have yourself a badass classic car

the S2000 comes into mind.

Please people before you bash a car, have your driven it? Please point me to a site where owners complain about this car. edmunds.com didn't have jacksheet on this car.

before you ask a question... you'll have to realize that this is a COMPUTER FORUM with LITTLE KIDS AS YOUNG AS 12 on computers typing how they drove the brand new 2005 BMW M5.

go test drive the car yourself.

I'm about to.... but was doing some research prior to test driving it. I sort of figured out most of the poeple crapping on MBZ had never driven the better ones. (please note the entry C-class doesn't count)

I had driven many different cars and always wanted to go back to German made.... Lexus is good but there is always something missing from japanese cars, I can't explaing it.

sniperruff you're right I'm wasting my time here and thanks again.

economicial isn't the word... If I want a economicial car, I'll be at Toyota's door in the morning. I could save all the money and invest it in another house or the stock market but I have enough of my money tie up in both already. This is a reward I gave myself for investing in real estate 😉.

Yes actually Edmunds has A TON on this car, go to the consumer forums thread on the car.

I was doing this when my dad was looking at a CLK 55 AMG.

Interesting.

So what happened in the end SCSI?

Anyone give their views on actually driving it?

One of the directors at my company has a CLK convertible. She's had a few problems with it though and it's been in the shop a few times. I couldn't tell you for what exactly but it seems like minor crap. I think that car cost her close to $80k new. It's either an '03 or an '04...can't remember which. It looks exactly like the '03 that I just googled.

Still, it must piss you off paying $80k for a car and having to drop it off every few months and getting a POS C230 with a giant courtesy car decal on the rear window. I don't think I'd want to own it out of warranty.

Edit-I loved the looks of that car when it came out but it looks kind of dated now. I think some of the new Mercedes look like ass though in comparison.

Thanks for the view Jules.

I saw a 1999 CLK320 on this garage and it looked great imo. Some really nice 17' AMG alloyws and nice low profile tyres. Some cars are fitted with some alloyws that I just don't like...
