You do realize paying 38k for a Murano is an extraordinary foolish thing to do. What was wrong with the FX?

tell your wife to test drive the 06 jeep grand cherokee, I just bought one on president's day, I got it ~2% under invoice plus $2500 rebate on top, its a steal. its build in the US, but the transmission is from mercedes-benz, its very smooth, I am sure they borrowed a lot of parts from mercedes-benz in this truck other than the transmission. you should at least test drive it, it will change your gf's mind about "domestics." This SUV drives like a car, and corners flat like my 03 4runner sport edition with the X-REAS suspension. it is so quiet inside like you wouldnt believe, it makes me feel like I am driving an expensive 4x4 version of a luxury germany mercedes-benz sedan, all for under $30k, I paid $26500 for mine with the 26F package, with upgraded tires. good luck.

The 06 Rav4 with the new 3.5L engine is worth a good look. It is also MUCH bigger than the outgoing Rav4

BMW x5 for around $40k, if I recall correctly. If you do go with that; ask about the possible center-console leak.

Wow, I had no idea Muranos were so expensive. I always thought they were mid-20s competition for all the other mini-utes.

$35k will buy a lot...

i looked at the rav4 too. the dealbreaker for me was no HID lights. after i went thru the trouble of retrofitting hid projectors in my two cars, i want the next one to have OEM hid. if the rav4 had it, i'm pretty sure we would buy that instead of the murano. and the x5 will probably be over $38k out the door like the murano we're looking at. $38k is already $6k more than what i originally wanted to spend.

i guess the base model S starts at about $27k invoice. we're looking at the top SE with options...hence the extra cost. i could have gotten a sti for myself, but sacrified it to buy a suv for the wife. i'll buy the sti later...

cover your eyes, and your wifes, walk into the Chevy dealer, sit in the Tahoe, and tell me it feels like a domestic...

you cant.

If you're looking for a better (car-based) SUV than the Murano for $35k, I don't think you'll find one.

Tahoe hands down is the nicest midsize SUV now, absolutely amazing interiro and great fuel economy from their V8's.

Grand Cherokee is another winner, very comfy and lots of features with great discounts of $8 - $12K on em.

If you must buy a Jap SUV, I'm sorry, they are clearly inferior to American SUV's. So why not buy a Ridgeline.

i don't want a v8 offroading suv. i doubt i'll even climb over any curbs. we just had a baby and the tc is not convienent anymore with the baby seat and stroller. we end up driving our 96 maxima everywhere so we want to buy a bigger car. we don't want to drive station wagons and minivans at 27. so we're looking at cross-over suvs, not honking 4x4 v8's.

the RX330 is an excellent choice, and you can easily get it for the price you wanted. I negotiated a fully loaded RX330 for my mom for below invoice, and after taxes and fee's came out to around 40k, but that's including a lot of options including nav system.

We looked at the Acura as well, which feels considerably bigger. The RX330 is a lot more luxurious as well, no one that sits in your car would ever mistake it for a toyota

not in the long run I see a 2004 Murano for $22k used. FX better investment. Or even in the short run that Murano will get hosed on resell in comparison to many other choices. When I sold cars I always ran from people trying to trade their 1-2 yo SUVs. especially montero's and any 4x2's ! sorry sir your 7k upside down would you consider a 5 years lease? on sorry I see your ass already has a gaping hole... we have vasoline :D

I wouldn't trust that rating

the lowest it got rated by the consumer is a 3.6 and I suspect it was a Toyota fanboy trying to skew the numbers.

here's what they said on how to improve it.
Suggested Improvements: Build the truck in Japan.

seriously check out the Tahoe for yourself.

"Review: I'm sorry I listened to my wife and bought this over the Sequoia (what I wanted). Driving on highway after 38 miles and car died suddenly and for no reason. Towed in and replaced a wiring harness which was improperly installed. Now at 155 miles the gas gauge starts wildly going back and forth. Took it back in. Does look decent on inside (I'll give them that) and is stylish outside. But two trips to the shop in first 155 miles is indicative of faulty build quality. I will not own this vehicle any longer than I have to and will think long and hard before buying another GM product. If I had to spend the money over again, I'd get a Sequoia. "

they said that 2 trips to the dealer in 155 miles was unacceptable. it is unacceptable. that doesn't make them a fanboi.
