YACT: suggest a $35k midsize suv

The particular Nissan murano we?re looking at is $34,779 which is about $300 below invoice. After taxes and fee it comes to $38,169. It?s the SE model with awd, 18? wheels, hid, leather, smart keys, dvd, heated power seats, reverse camera, heated mirror, 6disc mp3 changer, bose audio, bunch of other stuff I can?t remember but no nav. Since the OTD price creeps close to $40k ( I started out thinking it?ll be around $32k), what other midsize SUVs are out there that?s comparable, or maybe even better for the price? I guess it?ll have to be a pre-tax price of around $35k like the murano to make it an even comparison. only exclusion is no domestics. i'm not too fond of germans neither but will consider.

Im not sure if this is considered a midsized suv but the Forester XT is in that price range. A bit cheaper actually.

hm, i always thought the 4runner is more expensive than the murano. pilot is bland looking, looks just like an overgrown crv. i don't trust mitsubishi's long term reliability, and i'm not too fond of vw neither. thanks for the suggestions, i'll look into the 4runner and touareg. my mom will have one hell of a time trying to pronounce "touareg"

check out the Tahoe, no im not kidding, yes ppl think im a Domestic fanboy, but im not completely blind, the Tahoe is AMAZING.

my wife ruled out all domestics, and we dont' like the highlander's bland looks neither. I briefly looked over the RX330 on edmunds. it looks like its more expensive and less powerful but i guess it is a lexus...i'll check it out some more

I think the Lexus is the best model around 40k. But you can try the Toyota Highlander if its too expensive.

toureg is actually a pretty nice SUV. One of the better VW's. Unfortunate you cant get the V10 diesel, that was a beast!

I thought the rx330 was just suppose to be a more luxurious version of the highlander? Maybe they updated the highlander recently, i havnt been paying attention to it.

actually the RX came out first. The Highlander is a toned down version of the RX.

what? can you read? "hooked on phonics worked for me!" which part of "i don't trust mitsubishi's long term reliability" did you mistake for "i want to buy a mitsubishi." and yes, i have ruled out all domestics as its a personal preference.


thanks for all the other suggestions, i will look at them more carefully tonight...we were all excited about buying the murano this weekend untill i stopped and think that maybe i should look at some other ones before throwing down $38k.
