I don't even know what the hell my doctor drives, nor do I care.

if my doc/ surgeon is driving a pontiac or most other gm pos .. well he wont be our doc/ surgeon .. ditto for lawyer ... hair stylist ... RE agent ... we have rejected job applicants in our design firm if they say they like pontiac (just an example) ... its a good indicator to judge someone's design sensibilities ... which in turn is a very good indicator of other things ... (just as this post conveys a lot about me 😀

Typical BMW owner babble. Use more Dove sensitive with moisturiser instead of a bar of soap.

LOL ..

really, bmw z3 roadster for $18K? I don't believe that.. and too small/useless for driving others around.

the possible options u listed are not "image cars". you have high schoolers working at hot dog on a stick driving and making payments for those cars.

Pontiac G6 GTP hardtop convertible.
fully loaded = $34K

Audi A3 2.0T $32K loaded

Saab 9-2X Aero $22K - 26K loaded

 Another vote for a Mustang V6 Convertible. $26K fully loaded

V6 Mustang convertible? Fun, decent mileage, runs on regular, should be reliable, repairs, if there are any, are cheap.

I should have known...
Yes, God forbid that I like my car enough to recommend a variant of it to others. Just for you, from now on I'll only buy cars that I dislike.

...except, of course, you're driving a V6 'stang.
It's good looking, will handle well with the Pony package, a convertible is definitely stylish, it's cheap to insure, will have good mileage, is comfortable inside, and has enough power (210 hp, 240 ft-lbs) to be respectable, though it's no speed demon by any stretch. It's faster than any of the 4-cylinder cars you listed though. 28 mpg freeway too.

As for reliability, your opinion is your opinion, but it's no longer supported by objective data.

EDIT: Sorry Jagec, I mistook you for the OP because of similar avatars. The reliability comment is directed at the OP.

I wasn't stating that to be negative. I'd rather see people buying a domestic anyways. Even if they are unpopular on this board.

The purpose of this thread makes me partially laugh and partially weep.

You spent at least 7 years in school and all you can think is "I want to impress people with my money... but I want to do it cost-effectively!"?

To put it bluntly, no one gives a sh!t about what you drive. Save your money and go on vacation.

And you call American cars unreliable, but are considering a VW?

My fault then, sorry about that.

Wow, so you wouldn't frequent a doctor who drives a inexpensive car? I suppose that Pontiac logo makes him incapable of making a proper diagnosis. Maybe he just prefers to spend his money on something else.

Go with the hybrid. It portrays an image of caring about the environment, which would in turn portray a general image of intelligence (or snootyness) and caring, which would be the things I'd be looking for in a doc.

And since they don't make all too many luxury hybrids, you can get away with it being a toyota instead of a lexus.

And on top of that, at the end of the day, even though youre buying it for purely selfish reasons, you are "doing your part for the environment" either way.

BUY AMERICAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! when will everyone learn to support your own country????

My Nissan truck was touched by more American hands when built than my Father's Silverado.

I did buy American.

American cars are often made in mexico or canada, and japanese cars (especially toyota) are often made in america.

So...yeah. Buying a substandard product isnt supporting your country - expecting the best and not settling for second just cause is more supportive IMHO.
