I had a kitten that did that too. The moment sunlight started creeping through the curtains, he'd come and wake me up. He simply wouldn't take no for an answer so I would just freak him out by tossing him up in the air a few times (like a ball) and catching him.

Eventually, he started liking that and it failed to work as a deterrent.

This kind of thing is what makes Cats and even Dogs great pets. I'd rather have a Cat nipping my face than a Dog licking it though. It's rather impossible trying to go back to sleep after a Dog has covered your face in saliva and as it dries you can feel it tightening up the skin.

Those are little love nips. That's all.

He loves little milk-giving nips and expects them on your chin.
Yup - OP, your chin doesn't have any nipples, and this is confusing the kitten. So start lactating, dammit.

my cat used to stuff like that. The worst was when she would get close to my face and I would smell cat breath. Yuck.

Sounds like your cat just wants attention.

Just wait until its sleeping and then pester it. see how it likes that.

My cat used to nibble on my ears at night before falling asleep on my pillow, which I had to share. You've got a pal sounds like.

operant conditioning?

Pet purring, keep a spray bottle around for biting.
He sounds pretty smart, if he's linked the "wake up owner get petted and food" thing. He'll probably catch on pretty quick.

He's trying to infect you with some infectious cat disease or fungus. He thinks maybe after you're dead he gets the bed

Love bites. The cat adores you.

Cats will bite lightly as a show of affection. Your cat is just saying good morning.

my family's puppy is a lot like that. She's a vocal as hell little thing, loves to whine to get your attention, and she'll just sit there, staring at you, making her noises. She also bats at you with her paw, and if your in bed, that paw finds your face. Mostly, she just jumps on you and licks your face until you wake up. lol

The dry food might not cut it. He wants the good stuff! Either that or he wants attention.

I had a cat that would try to wake me up by gently patting me on the face, but if that didn't work she would stick her claw up my nose and pull - that worked!
