Or when they howl to alert you to the fact that they've just used the litter box.
My cat Beverly knew my routine back when I worked retail. She'd always try to lead me around from room to room. Darn cat would never bring me my keys or wallet though.
None of our cats do that.
One does spend an inordinante amount of time trying to bury it sometimes, but I just add litter and that seems to be what's the issue.
To the OP: Cats need attention, just like a dog. find what attracts them, you said laser pointer, and dedicate time to them just for play. Set a loud timer and play until it goes off, then stop. If you're consistent, just like training any animal, they will learn what behaviors get rewarded and attention, and what doesn't.
If they are persistant about something, they really are trying to tell you something, you're the one with the thumbs and the advancded reasoning abilities, let's see you use them and FIGURE IT OUT !!!
There are only a few things that matter ... , let's play! I Want to Eat, i Got to go poo / pee, Gonna puke,.... I'm bored, entertain me ,Tuna Boy... Well, that last one is just mine, I think...
Anyway, try a few greenie treats to encourage the behavior you want, and you will find that G/|F's come and go, but cats stay loyal forever, and a good one will hunt and share with you. THAT's how you know it's a good cat.
