I'll be posting a video later on this summer when we get the new dragster going. I have been granted the go ahead on driving the dragster. I'm helping build the thing right along side my dad so I can claim this dragster just like notfred did because he did not build the motor of his car by himself. He built it in someone else's garage with their help.

He owns his car though, you are just a driver....that's a big difference.

Notfred used his own money.....big difference.

wtf difference does it make if it's his or his Dads ? he's part of a team and I'm sure he will post it that way.

He is claiming the dragster as his own, which it's not. I guess by your reasoning my wife could claim my race truck because she goes to the track with me?

I am not claiming the dragster as my own. I am claiming the time of the dragster and the fact that I help out a ton with the dragster.

But Skip, it isn't yours any more than if it belonged to a friend. Well, maybe a little more, but all the other cars here actually belong to the posters.

BTW, nice Camaro on your website.....you should have kept it.

bah, that top fuel stuff sucks, i don't personally like cars that aren't real cars, but that's just me.
Yeah I don't really care about a car that isn't at least streetable. It doesn't have to be a daily driver, but if you can't even register the thing, who cares? Might as well put wheels onto a booster rocket for all I care.

I wouldn't take out a friend's drag racer and claim it, and I know skip has put time into it, but you gotta have a guideline somewhere.

With race cars it's not always about even being remotely able to get your groceries with, it's about speed and fastest times.

I think many would change their minds if they ever had a chance to do a real 10 sec or faster pass...I could only imagine what a 1/4 time time approaching 1/2 of that would be like.

1. A quote got messed up somewhere...I didn't post what's credited to me above.
2. I agree, I'd certainly jump at the chance to ride in a top fuel car.
My truck has a best of 6.96, with 7.00 being the equivalent of 10.90. I can't imagine running twice that quick.

Yeah tell me about it ;)

Seriously though whether you own it free and clear or are *paying* on it, when it comes from your own checkbook is a lot different than "daddy's" money or just being a driver. There are a lot of drivers here that have the advantage of getting paid to work and drive other's cars...it's a mentality of the owner's I don't understand....purely "look at me, look at me".

My favorite is the idiots in a car you could buy for $1,500 on the corner of the block trying to talk smack that they 'own' theirs and your's is owned by the bank.

I dunno, I have more respect for those who paid for hteir own vehicles. And I should add I hang around others my age (18-22) who are still fairly young.

I know of one guy in HS who bought a used MX6 and riced it up. The car was quite ugly, but he paid for the car, the insurance, and the mods himself so he got respect from me.

Note this is coming from someone who doesn't own his own car yet....

Then he proceded to tell me he mainly meant breaking warranty

Then I saw what he drove later on, POS late 70's SlowMaro with ripped off exhaust, I only know it was slow cause it was a car I beat earlier that evening (Test n' Tune) guess he felt bad his loud and obnoxious "Race Car" got beat by a big QUIET (I prefer stealth) 4x4.

But either way, even those types don't bug me a fraction of the Mommy and Daddy mobiles. Rich kids riding around in a car paid fully by the parents that think they know anything about cars.

Yeah and within a couple years you own yours and they still have the buster (and mullet) ;)

The whole bank-owned, under-warranty BS is another thing...seriously I never ever plan on profiting or even breaking even on a warranty claim. I might as well drive what I want from day one.

You want to talk about p!ssing someone off beat them in a mid 15's Saturn ;) My VR6 at low 15's would get the 'you got NOS' 'you got a turbo' 'I fried a plug wire!' chants. The 92 GSR I had was at the beginning of Honda recognition as well and totally stock in 95 would get people crying about I must have major mods.

I can relate to the loud and obnoxious....modern technology = quiet on the street. If you are making $1000's per dB vs HP then it makes sense to deafen yourself.
