Hey djheater, did you also replace [or rebuild] the wheel cylinders at the same time? or at least check under the dust seals for any leakage of brake fluid? I dunno if thats what you mean by hardware. It is often a good idea to either replace or rebuild the cylinders while you change out the shoes, would hate to have to R&R the system if it leaks a couple thousand miles later.

Also, if your vehicle has a self adjusting bendix type sytem don't count on it to automatically "adjust" for you, often times you will find yourself using the star adjuster to manually adjust the shoes' contact with the drums.

oh and pat on the back for you and a

Great job :)

I'm getting ready to do a brake job to my car as well. I painted the rotors (the hub and top part), aluminum/silver to stop rusting and to keep it looking good. I'm also going to paint my brake calipers a flat/low-gloss black, to make it better looking than the crusty-grey on there now.

Ugly Caliper
A part of my rusty rotor - It is like that on all 4 discs, rusty wherever the pads don't go. On the hub, and on the top part of the discs.

I'm not doing anything flashy by painting it red or yellow or something stupid. I just want to keep it from looking ugly.

Rotors are already painted, everything will be done tomorrow night after work.
