If I would, a Supra would be THE car to get. You just can't get them here. Right after Fast and Furious, he would get kids, (who could easily afford them) looking for them on a daily basis, and he would have to spend them out the door. I am sure he has connections and could check around, but it will be nearly impossible finding on in new england. I would just die if I were to find anything mid 90's... i'll let you guys know :p

That Lexus would only be about 700 bucks a month :p... working @ Staples and going to school, I'm sure I could afford that no problem

... it is pretty damn impressive... but only about 30K out of my price range. :)

I'd probably get a Highlander, myself. I find most of Toyota's car lineup pretty ugly right now. I like the Solara, but it's about to be replaced so the resale would be rather poor.

After talking to my dad this morning, the Celica is out of the question.... he said a Matrix or Corolla.... i am really leaning towards a matrix xrs, but the only one at the dealership is an automatic... i would prefer a 6 speed, but i can deal with an auto. He said that if I were to buy a car anywhere else, I would be disowned :p.. i guess he still bitter about my sisters not buying anything from him. I was up till around 4 last night doing research, and have been on since around 9 doing more reasearch. Basically I am looking to finance a car @ 250-300 bucks a month..

Get a Toyota Prius. 52 mpg of tree hugging and lack of dependance on the middle east.

I am definlty a Prius fan... my dad was the first toyota saleman in New England to be certified to sell them... he even used to have the Japensese verison of it way before it came to the states... the 04 comes out in the fall i believe.. i just can't see myself drive one.... right now its looking like a loaded matrix for under 300 bucks a month.

Well, if your only choices are the Corolla and Matrix, I'd go with the latter. I think the Corolla looks better, but the added utility of the Matrix would come in very handy.

I do have other choices, but these seem to be the best overall toyota cars for the money.. i just simply can't afford 400 bucks a month and I would rather buy than lease. The matrix xrs is going to probaly going to my choice, unless i fall in love with something else at the dealership.

After going to the dealership earlier today, I was able to check about 4 different cars that I would be intersted in.. it was rainy and my dad already had a "real" customer so i just went for research... here are the models

-03 Blue XR Matrix 5-spd
-03 Blue Corolla S Type 5-spd
-02 Celica GT, with 10K miles.. they just got it in today i guess

There were a couple of more models of cars, but due to the crappy weather, I couldn't get a good feel for what they had. :( ... what would you guys recomenmed because i can definlty get a good discount on any of those cars.

Yeah I am beggining to realize that :p...I will be a sophomore in the fall. I was really excited when I first heard of the Matrix and drove down to the dealership the first day they got them in. The car was a horrible purple color, but I was pretty impressed by the interior and the car overall. The Matrix should have a lot of room to move around, and would be pretty sporty if i got an XRS 6 speed. I think i'll drive the matrix first tomorrow.

So did you test drive the Matrix yet?

Report?

I was planning on test driving a couple of cars today, but my dad was really busy selling another car. I am going to go back tomorrow after work and figure out what car would be best.... the matrix was pretty impressive and could be had just a couple hundred over invoice. The 02 Celica only has 10K miles on it, so I will see if I could get that for around 14K, plus 2K down wouldn't be a bad payment per month.... hopefully tomorrow won't be as busy and I can get some experience with the matrix, corolla, and celica. :)

My pick: Solara V6 manual

But you should really consider the Camry. I went Toyota shopping last year and I wasn't all that impressed by Matrix, too small for me. And if you're looking at Corolla, might as well make the upgrade and get a full size Camry, much more practical. If you're gonna get a Camry, for sure you won't be racing it, so just go for the automatic, easier to drive auto in bad weather conditions and better resale value. Riding in comfort worth more than whether or not your car looks cool. Drive it till you're 25, by then you'll be out of college and insurance should be cheap, and get yourself something nice.

I will definlty look into the camry... my mail goal of this car is that the cafe is safe and relable for the next 4 years or so. I will be in college for about 3 more years, and need something to communte from school and to work. The reason why I was leaning towards a corolla is that its sporty looking (lowered body and spoiler) and it would be pretty cheap at nearly invoice. The camry defintly is a nice car, but I am trying to stay within a certain budget. Now that my grades are in (3.5GPA) this semester, my parents are relatives are going to be helpful in geting me a NICE car.

Lets just hope I make it to work tomorrow without geting pulled over or the tire rod snapping :( .... I know I shouldn't be driving, but hopefully I will have a new car by the end of the week... this is just a big decision, because i plan on having the car for 5 years. Within the past two days I have put in probaly 10 hours or more in research :p

Went down to the dealership this mornng and test drove a couple of cars.. they were used, but my dad could still get them at cost....

-00 Accord LX
-01 Nissan Sentra SE 2.0

The accord was WICKED nice, and I could get it for about 11,000.. the Nissan wasn't too bad, but overall the honda and its 5 sph just drove really nice. As I was leaving, my dad was selling a 01 Rav4 to a customer and he was trading in a 90 BMW 750i, that has a f*cking 12 cylinder engine in it. :p ... do you guys thiink that it would be worth the 5,000 I could get it for, or would that be too crazy.. either way I have to call my dad back pretty soon... i will probaly just get the Honda.

HOLY crap.. i had know clue that the 750il sold for 70K in 1990..... thats just insane. Do you guys think it would be worth 5K?.. if the engine checks out I think I just might have to get it... I am sure repairs would be INSANE, but I would only drive the car for about 2-3 years...

DO NOT BUY A BMW V12. You will thank me later as will the mechanic(tho he will gladly thank you for the money I guarantee he'll hate actually doing it).

I will be probaly geting the 2000 Accord tomorrow... the car drives so smooth it was awesome being able to go 75mph in 3rd gear :p... The payments are going to be about 200-225 on it... I worked the math out and I have a feeling that the interest on a used car loan is going to kill me... does anyone know what the regular 60 month rate is? The car will cost me 11K and I will put down 1500, plus my Jetta.. my dad said that the payments should be around 225... that is just really high to me, and if thats the case, I might as well just get a new car. Oh well, I will have to run the numbers again tomorrow.

Toyotas I'd consider driving...

MkIV Supra TT (of course!)
90s MR2 Turbo
MR2 Spyder (yeah, it's still a good roadster for the $$)
Lexus SC300 (drop in a 2JZ-GTE, total sleeper)

AE86-92... Hachi Rokuuuuuuu!!!!

Used cars are definitely a Ferengi's choice... why pay for a car you need to break in and lose value?
I can go to 72+ MPH in second gear... heh... close ratio rocks.
