Get a Toyota Prius. 52 mpg of tree hugging and lack of dependance on the middle east.

Well, if your only choices are the Corolla and Matrix, I'd go with the latter. I think the Corolla looks better, but the added utility of the Matrix would come in very handy.

For a young man like you, I'd suggest a utilitarian vehicle such as the Matrix. It'd be handier when "your" in college. The sporty cars may impress other men, but too impractical.
Yeah I am beggining to realize that...I will be a sophomore in the fall. I was really excited when I first heard of the Matrix and drove down to the dealership the first day they got them in. The car was a horrible purple color, but I was pretty impressed by the interior and the car overall. The Matrix should have a lot of room to move around, and would be pretty sporty if i got an XRS 6 speed. I think i'll drive the matrix first tomorrow.

But you should really consider the Camry. I went Toyota shopping last year and I wasn't all that impressed by Matrix, too small for me. And if you're looking at Corolla, might as well make the upgrade and get a full size Camry, much more practical. If you're gonna get a Camry, for sure you won't be racing it, so just go for the automatic, easier to drive auto in bad weather conditions and better resale value. Riding in comfort worth more than whether or not your car looks cool. Drive it till you're 25, by then you'll be out of college and insurance should be cheap, and get yourself something nice.
