With proper maintenance of a vehicle, nothing should be "about to go". :)

Its a POS because its a 1991 that has 145K miles on it. The engine is pretty strong, it just needs a muffler/shocks/tirerod/tires.. The car is really not that bad, but does need about $500 to pass inspection. To me its not worth spending 500 bucks on a car thats worth 800, and that rides like a tank. Every pot hole I hit, makes the car shake violently. I am not complaining too bad though, because i only paid a grand for it more than a year ago and it really hasn't given me any major major problems until recently.

Me personally? I'd go with a Highlander, 4Runner or Tundra....but then again I'm a 25 year old homeowner with different needs (or wants) than a teenager.
4Runners are defintly sweet, but out of my price range or 250-300 bucks a month. My dad sold my sisters former fiance, a 02 Limted 4Runner for about 40K, and it is SWEEEEEEET. My dad also used to drive his friends Iggy (he was from Spain), 02 Land Cruiser, which he traded for a 03 :p He also had a 02 MR2, which he never drove and traded in.

Yeah thats probaly good advice.. i was thinking matrix XRS that has the celica engine plus AWD which would own here in VT in the winter. The mrsp is only around 20K, which means I could get it for 16. I will definlty take a look at one tomorrow and give one a test drive... I definlty have nothing against the matrix.

I thought you couldn't get the 180 horse motor w/ AWD? Even so, you don't need a rocket ship so just get a 5-speed and you'll be good:)

I understand.

I just didn't want this to turn into one of those "bash VW threads". :D

If I was a chick? Celica

I would get the GTS with the action package... I don't really think thats girly at all. The matrix is pretty nice and would obviously be a much more ecomonical car... i'll drive both tomorrow :p

Opps, I misspoke... the XRS is 180hp and does not have AWD.. the AWD is with the XR, that has the regular engine.. the XRS is a 2wd 6 speed that i would definlty rock :p I figure I might as well get the most discount I can and get the nicest car they offer.

Yeah, I'd wait till 25 :)

At least you agree with my opinion.
I was going to get a GTS with the action package but I did the sensible thing and bought a 00 Civic Si.
Almost as fast, almost as nice looking and better gas milage, not to mention alot cheaper(insurance too !!)

For a young man like you, I'd suggest a utilitarian vehicle such as the Matrix. It'd be handier when "your" in college. The sporty cars may impress other men, but too impractical.

Yeah I am beggining to realize that :p...I will be a sophomore in the fall. I was really excited when I first heard of the Matrix and drove down to the dealership the first day they got them in. The car was a horrible purple color, but I was pretty impressed by the interior and the car overall. The Matrix should have a lot of room to move around, and would be pretty sporty if i got an XRS 6 speed. I think i'll drive the matrix first tomorrow.

They made "mister two's" in 2002? You mean the MR2 Spyder, right?

correct.. it was a mr2 spyder... the guy who owned it never drove it and later traded it in with like 4K miles on it :p.. damn it must be nice to be able to drive a 55K Land Crusier and have one of those.... my dad once locked himself out of the land crusier and the stupid locksmiths ended up breaking something on it. He had to pay 300 bucks to get it fixed before he came back from Japan :p

I'd want an older MR2 of course, or an older Celica (the gts, AWD Turbo?) - or maybe an old 4runner. Out of their NEW cars... I don't know. Definitely no corolla or camry. I personally don't really like the new celicas or mr2s, but they might still be fun to drive and get good gas mileage. But if you want something that's good in every category, then maybe something more like the Matrix would be a better choice. It really just boils down to what you want though. If you want something really fun, go for something sportier. If you want it to be "practical" and "economical" blah blah blah, go for that Matrix. It'll still be fun though, I bet.

Cool that you can get a discount like that. bastage!
