This will be my last car thread if i can get a new car, i promise :p

My 91 jetta is offically the biggest POS ever made. I went to get it inspected on tuesday and it needs over 500 bucks in work just to pass inspection. The tire rod is about to go, along with the back tire. The car also has no shocks and needs a muffler to pass. So I have to the conclusion that i need a new car. My dad happens to work @ Toyota and can by two cars a year at cost pretty much. I have narrowed my choices between a Rav4, Celica, Matrix, but I am open to other models. My sister who has good credit is willing to co-sign for the car as a gift for my 19th birthday next week. The car doesn't nesseraryly have to be a toyota, but obviously I am not going to be able to get that sort of discount anywhere else. Tomororw I am going to hit all the major dealerships... i just need a car ASAP because mine is illegal as it is.

5/15 Update: Thanks to my sisters near perfect credit :p, I will be geting a 2000 Accord LX tomorrow.. the car is 5spd, which i wanted and is wicked fun to drive... its going to set me back a cool 11K, but I will be puting 1500 down. Can't wait to get it home and take pictures :) Thanks for the Toyota advice, but I decided to get the Honda, but I was able to get a pretty good deal on it anyway from my dad.

Camry is a very nice car. Yeah it doesn't have the "image" but is a very nice car. With that said I would prolly get a Solara instead.

I can get used Toyota's cheap too... these cars don't have to be new necessarly... I went on saturday and looked at what they have, but couldn't get a clear idea because he was really busy with other customers... tomorrow won't be busy so i will have all day to figure out what the hell i want.

MR2 (old ones) and 1995 Camry's were some of the best cars ever engineered.

I would get a Celica GTS with the TRD KIT.
A Celica without the body kit=UGLY, with the KIT=AWESOME.

Awesome looking car, pretty fast, good gas milage, but the insurance will kill you as you are only 19.

If he can get Toyotas at cost, can he get a Lexus at cost too? ... Get a used GS400, or maybe an IS300 ;)

Otherwise, I'd say go for the Camry, or the Solara ... (If you can wait, the 2004 Solara will be out in September I think, but it sounds like you can't wait).

I LOVE the gts with the action package... at the dealership they have a black gts and its pretty damn awesome. The msrp is about 26K and I could probaly get it for 22K.... over 60 months and with 3K down, I am still looking at a large payment + insurance... anyone know the absolute cheapest way to get that car insured? :p

Another thing I am sick of is having the crappiest, most unrealiable car in the family... my mom has a 03 Focus, sister 02 Passat V6 and other sister 01 A4 1.8t :p ... even my stupid 16 year old brother's Subura is nicer than mine. I am just waiting until both the tire rod snaps at 70 mph, and the back tire pop's at the same time.

Tomorrow will be a good day though if I can manage to pull something off :)

So your VW is a POS because you didn't maintain it?

With proper maintenance of a vehicle, nothing should be "about to go". :)

Me personally? I'd go with a Highlander, 4Runner or Tundra....but then again I'm a 25 year old homeowner with different needs (or wants) than a teenager.

I have an 89 Camry and it's the most reliable vehicle ever. (Biased). In all seriousness, It has 160K miles and still looks and runs like the day my old man drove it off the lot in May of 89.

I'd get a Matrix if I was forced to buy a Toyota. Camry has turned into/been a boat for a while. The Celica is waaaaaaay too ricey, RAV4 too girly and while the MR2 would be awesome I think insurance would be up the @ss as well since they're not exactly easy to come by.

Did I mention that I've been biased against Toyota for a while now because I can't stand their freakin' commercials? The comment on the camry remains tho. I can't stand driving my parents' 01.
