Ok guys, I am in the market for a car finally. I have about 3k saved up and my parents they would pitch in 10k, very generous parents. I am not looking for an extremely fast car, but I want somewhat fast. I prefer a coupe but I am into anything, including new or used. I really want something that has a very agressive styling and is a blast to drive. My friend just got a 03 Acura RSX Type-s for 16, and this car is unbelieveable fun to drive. I love high revving engines. So my criteria for a car are: a very agressive buy nice styling, manual and has to be fun to drive (includes high-revving engine or deep, throaty exhaust). I really dont like automatic cars... any advice guys?

Man, you're gonna get reamed on insurance on those types of vehicles at 16. Hell, I got reamed on my old Accord at 18.

most obvious choice is mustang... coupe, fast, imho good styling, deep throaty exhaust that only v8's can give.
I would also add in camaro but in my opinion there is a whole lot more room in the mustang, more comfortable drive, etc etc.

i'm not a fan of inline 4's or v6's unless they are turboed... but that's just me.

Right now, we have 2 cars. My parents will get rid of one car and buy another one, but the one they buy will be mine. So the insurance, is under their name. And I will be a secondary driver, although I will be the "primary" driver.

'Stangs are fine as long as you don't mind getting owned by f-body's at a stoplight. ;)

i never said stangs are faster... but they are fast enough that riding comfort for 100k miles easily beats out losing to an f-body at a few lights.

Somehow I doubt this kid will ever have to pay an insurance premium...

Hmm... I just checked kbb and edmunds and $16k would be below trade-in for an 02 RSX Type-S much less an 03.

btw, have you looked at a 00 or 01 Subaru 2.5RS? It would fall neatly in your price range and meets all your criteria except it has a torquey flat-4 engine instead of one of Honda's buzzy torqueless wonders.

If my car gets totalled, I'm looking at a 12-13k price range also..

Currently looking real seriously at a '98 Audi A4 1.8T then chipping it.. :)

Was looking at a 240SX SE before, but those are hard to find not modded, not high mileage, or not automatic.

Actually I have to pay have my premium. Im in high school.. and I cant get any high paying jobs. Just minimum wage (6.75). Its pretty hard to balance your senior year, 5 AP Courses and a job. I know many spoiled brats, kids with brand new m3's, hummers and the occasional corvette.

Edmunds.com has a top 10 for under 10k and 15k i think, I'd check those out. That's a decent budget....I think the average car purchase is about that.

It actually was a 2002 with 23k miles. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

That Integra GSR is a consideration, i didnt think about that. Mustangs, everyone and their mom has a mustang at my school. Preludes are very nice cars, but are hard to find ones that are not salvaged.
