YACT: Dodge 1500 SLT w/ Hemi or Nissan Titan?

If you had the option of these two (Ford and Chevy don't a powerful enough motor in this price range) which would you choose?

Ram 1500-
Single Cab, Short Bed, Hemi Power (I think 350hp)

Titan-
King Cab, Short Bed, 305hp V8, Spray in Bed liner...etc...

Ram comes to ~ $28,000 after rebates and incentives

Titan comes to ~ $25,000 after rebates and incentives

Ford's 5.4 has 300HP/365TQ IIRC, That's right up there with Nissan's motor

You should drive it though...you'd swear a V6 was in that thing compared to the other 2...

this forum has about a 10 to 1 bias towards imports no matter what cars your comparing so you need to take that into acount. Go ask somewhere else. Both are nice. Just drive them both and get whichever one you like better.

Why should he take that into account? It just so happens that imports are better quality and most of us here recognize this fact. 😀

When you say Chevy and Ford don't have anything this powerful in that price range, what do you define powerful as? Because you do know that torque is more important if you're towing right?

titan = best choice but really bad gas. <14 mpg, 28 gallon tank.

ram = cool looking truck, gas eater, and rear axle has been known to plop off. goto dodge truck world.com

personally, id get either the titan or tundra. i know the tundra is weakest out of all the trucks, but it sure beats the rest in reliability and gas mileage. some owners over at tundrasolutions.com are reporting ~20 mpg. i drive 60+ miles a day so gas would definitily be a consideration for me.

The Titan has less weight to lug around than a comparable F-150 with the 5.4. Not to mention that I think that Nissan has SERIOUSLY underrated the Endurance V8. Have you even driven a new F-150 with the 5.4? It's hardly "sprightly"

I also think you should give Ford and Chevy another look. I'd buy one of those over a Dodge any day. I don't know much about the Titan though, looks intriguing. If I were in the market, I'd look at the Ford F150, Chevy Silverado, and Titan. I don't like the Tundra which is odd seeing as how I have a Tacoma. I find it hard to believe you can't get a Ford or Chevy at the same price you're looking at (<$30K) with the same options.

No, I haven't driven a new Ford yet (hmmm...rainy Durham day, no work, Ford dealership down the street...). Anyways, I'd love to take a look at the Titan too. I never even considered a Nissan truck, but I saw a new Titan the other day and it looked sharp. I'm not saying that Ford or Chevy are better than Nissan, but if it's price and hauling/towing capabilities he's looking at, I'd give them another look. Usually the domestics give great discounts compared to Toyo or Nissan.

Raining here in Raleigh too. Saw some poor sap in a Dodge Stratus take a spin into a ditch this morning.

You should drive the 4.6 it's a dog. Co-worker of mine had one for about 8 months but got rid of it.

Most unbiased post ever!

 😛

While the new Dodge is nice, it is really pricey especially for the V8, so purely price/performance-wise, I think Nissan is the choice. I mean a pickup that does 0-60 in approx ~7sec and can haul the same or more thand the competition is pretty impressive.
