I never got any quotes per se. But for the options I am looking for (Hemi, some other stuff) the MSRP came to $31k, they have ~ $3000 in incentives bringing it to 28...so I guess closer to 25-26 k when all is said and done.

Dodge's interiors are seriously lacking...I've never felt so uninterested driving a car or truck.

ford and pisson have terrible interiors...

I am very happy with my Ram and it is a sweet looking truck too:thumbsup:

The 5.4 is hardly a dog. I doubt anyone here has really driven one. The 4.6 is without a doubt, it was a dog in the previous gen and the 800lbs the 04-05's have over the previous doesn't help. It's retarded how everyone thinks acceleration is what matters in a truck. It's not a god damn sports car.

Well, I am going to be biased since I bought a Titan three months ago. My dad owns a 1500(non hemi) and I also test drove one(w/hemi) .I think the Nissan is a good bit quicker on takeoff and pulls away towards the top end. I love this truck and it is pretty darn quick for a vehicle this size. I got the xe 4x2 Crew cab and I enjoy it immensely. Go to Titantalk if you want some deeper info.

Edit: I paid 22k for my truck(pretty much a standard truck) It has power windows, doorlocks, ac,no door trim and black door handles and color coded bumpers instead of chrome.Dealer had to get it from another dealer and it came with the bedliner and floormats at no charge.Standard CD/stereo(sounds real good though) The Dodge I was looking at with the similar options was closer to 25k which scared me off.

I'd get the Dodge, the Titan's V8 is indeed powerful. But the Hemi, is a pushrod engine. With that the Dodge will have better low-end torque and it's a more simple design.

Does anyone know if Nissan is using a Timing Chain instead of a belt with this engine. I know that they use a chain with most if not all of their engines.

Get the Titan....I did😉

The Titan uses a Timing chain....no belt.
And the Titan has more usable low end torque than the ram.

My Titan doesnt have the first bit of chrome on it. Many of the higher end ones do though. As for the torque, the Titan doesn indeed have more useable low end torque (I believe 80% is available at 1500rpm).

It is not a bias, Dodge is junk. I had my fill of them with three of their vehicles and will never buy their crap again.

I don't get the price you have for the Ram. My 2003 4wd Ram with Hemi cost me about $22k.

btw, i really like it, it's comfortable, handles good, and has a lot of power for the money. I've never driven the Titan so i can't make a fair comparison.

Just check carsdirect first. It'll give you a decent idea of what you should be able to haggle the dealer down to.

Wow...some of you sound like you got some decent deals. I don't want any bells and wheels, I just want a solid looking truck with a strong engine and transmission (and good braking), everything else (stereo, wheels, etc) I can do myself. I'd really like to spend between 21-25k for my truck.

I went to the local Nissan stealership today just to see a titan in person. I like em although looks-wise I like the Ram more, I like the price too, but my dealership didn't have what I was looking for, seriously, 90% of what they had were the LE model, leather....blah...blah...blah...don't need that crap. Just sitting in one put a smile on my face, not sitting in a Titan itself, but just sitting in a truck. I have a "low-low" car right now and it's not "me".

KKK- So that carsdirect.com site....do you think if I took that into the dealer and told them I wanted to pay the "target" price that they would go for it? Maybe not that directly, but for what I want the target price is 3k less than invoice.

I don't think there are any major mechanical/drivetrain issues with the first year Titan/Armada. Most of the complaints are with squeeks and rattles. Nissan had engineers flown in to try to correct some of these QC items.

We bought a late production 04 Armada and it does not have all of the minor complaints as the earlier builds since Nissan makes rolling changes to their production line.

I wish we would have waited for the 05 but only for the few extra features but it would have cost about 4K more.

All Nissans except 350Z roadster for $500 under invoice (In WA)

This is not counting any additional rebates/customer cash back. I think some 04s are about 3.5K under invoice.

When you say Chevy and Ford don't have anything this powerful in that price range, what do you define powerful as? Because you do know that torque is more important if you're towing right?

The Titan has less weight to lug around than a comparable F-150 with the 5.4. Not to mention that I think that Nissan has SERIOUSLY underrated the Endurance V8. Have you even driven a new F-150 with the 5.4? It's hardly "sprightly"

My 97 with the old 5.4 is pretty peppy with no mods done to the engine.

The newer pi head, 3 valve/cylinder 5.4 has tons more power than mine and my truck pretty much hauls ass. Of course, its main point is the towing capacity.

I've driven the Titan crew cab model and while I was impressed with the engine I was less than impressed with the interior and the loud engine drone in the cab. The numbers are definitely there. If you need a vehicle that can tow this has the best stock package in a 1/2 ton pickup truck by far. If you are looking for a good comfortable truck that can haul couches, fridges and the regular home improvement projects but still do family duty then I would suggest the Toyota Tundra Double Cab over either the Dodge or the Nissan.

I would think you could get the truck for what carsdirect quotes you or maybe even less. Carsdirect get a commission paid to it somehow which I would think that the dealership would rather keep in house.
