Did you factor in the fact that automatics are for pussies!!!!
Your shrill insistence on what's cool and what's not has certainly convinced me.
If I come up with a witty retort that you can only, at best, mimic to counter my witty post, this thread might get magically get locked.

Do you realize a lot of drag racers use automatics?
The numbers are so close that automatics are quicker than manuals, because the typical manual drivers aren't the fastest at shifting.
Not true, drag racers that use manuals are the FASTEST shifters.

The reason that that 99.9 percent of drag racers use automatics is consistency.

You won't see anyone ever win at the local drags with a stick, unless he is racing in a stick-only class.

It's fun to watch a guy with a manual race though, when he knows what he is doing.

The whole slide your foot off the clutch sideways thing because the spring will engage the clutch faster then your muscles can pick your foot off the pedal, everything.
Oh yeah, stick drag cars are a hoot to watch. The have Gear Jammer races regularly, where a group of Super Stocks, Stockers, and Modifieds that run sticks come to a regular weekly bracket race and have their own race. These cars normally don't run in the standard bracket classes because they have absolutely no chance to win, but it really brings in the crowds to see them race each other.
Always cool to see a Super Stocker pick up the front wheels in first, second, AND third.

Edit: Oh, and seeing a small block stick car launch at 14,000 rpms is cool, too.

Now you're talking! I'd pay to watch that!
Oh, lots of people do.

Pretty awesome. One guy at the track I race at (when I was racing, haven't since the kids came along) has a split window Vette that's a Modified class car.

I think he has a 5 speed, and he shifts 3 times in the first 100 feet or so. Very fast.
