130k is nothing on one of those and think of it this way. For $1k if it last a year and blows up your still better off than you would have been making payments on a new car.

Its a grand marquis, man, you MUST BUY IT!!!!

and its a '91. Best vintage.

I love Sables and Grand Marquis. They are so awesome. You have no idea how many people can fit in my 91 Sable. the grandmarquis is just a sable plus another half sable, or thereabouts. You should totally go for it man, you may never find another grand marquis for 1000 dollers. I'd hat to pass up a chance like that.

Yeah the backseat can seriously hold 4 or 5 people no problem... and the trunk could fit probaly 4 dead bodies. :p

4? you must not have been looking in the trunk. more like 15.

Yeah thats what i figured.... if i could get a year out of the car I would be happy. I just don't want to have to sink another $300 into my jetta if i could get this for 700-800. I am pretty sure that it will last till at least next year. I have had my jetta since for a little more than a year and only paid a grand for it... so i was relatively happy with it.... it just sucks having to drive it EVERYDAY and feel every bump.

I am going to check the car out tomorrow and offer him 500 down and then like a 100 a week.. we will see what happens.

I laugh because my dad's 88 park avenue (the electronic everything version) has 218,718 some odd miles on her, and it runs like a charm (3800 engine)...

We also have a 94 dodge intrepid with 186,000, and aside from a little minor problem that needs to be fixed with the fuel injectors... it works astonishingly well (3.3 liter engine, gets great gas mileage, probably 525 miles to a tank of gas if you drive it all highway miles)

And finally, I have a 96 chevy blazer with 132,890 miles on it. It's a great running vehicle...

The key to getting used vehicles, is to find ones that have been taken care of, both on the inside, and under the hood and exterior surfaces.

If it passes those and runs decent, it's a hell of a deal. My dad got his park avenue for $1,000 and he just fell in love with that car. It had 208,000 miles when we got it, and that was just back in the fall. They run. Might have to do various tune ups, but it's a hell of a lot cheaper than making a continuous monthly payment.

Yeah thats what i am trying to avoid: a monthly payment. I have driven in the car probaly 20-30 times and it rides very smooth. The engine is very solid and the car only has several minor, minor problems. My friend paid 2500 for it i believe last summer and is just looking to get rid of it ASAP to pay his parents. They might even cut me a deal because i always help them out at Staples and get them deals :)... my dad just got his 92 Lumina for 200 bucks and the thing runs like a top :)

My car was semi-reliable, but has died several times when i needed it the most... i just put 145000 on it today and the engine is strong... but it has muffler/shock/electrical/needs new tires issues.. here the breakdown of what i have put into it since 3/02

-$100 for tune-up to fix shaking
-$250 for exhaust expect for muffler
- $150 for when it died in the winter
- $150 when i drove off the interestate :p

I am sure I am missing about 400 more in repairs at least. Overally i probaly have 2500 in the car and its been pretty sold for the past year. I just want to get rid of it and have been for a while.

Yeah there's something wrong... it's a Grand Marquis.
Care to enlighten the masses about the problems with a Grand Marquis?

The only problem is it's ugly as sin, but that can be considered pimpin' too so I dunno.

I'd call it more "stately" than "ugly". It is a handsome and very "adult" vehicle. Mature and refined.
