1988 Honda Hawk GT, great condition, owned by a Honda motorcycle Technician.

its a Candy Flair Blue, with some goodies on it...

The forks have Race Tech gold valve emulators, and it has an Ohlins rear shock. It will have new tires on it as well.

he is currently replacing a few parts on it (throttle cable, choke cable, front fender, one of the fork tubes)

Should i be interested in it? this price is average for what ive been looking at, having it owned by a tech gives me a lil more peace of mind as well.

yes, its a 1988 bike, that is still worth as much as it was when new. its a gorgeus bike, and looks similar to this one...

i dont fit in a miata.

i would rather an S2000 anyways. dont fit in that though either, so im stuck with the GM twins

What's the Saturn version? Io or something? Ion is the sedan, right?

EDIT: Wait, you DON'T fit in a Miata? I'm 6'2", 200, and I fit fine, except my hand hits my knee on left hand turns, but I fit snugly.

Why not just get an SV650 at double that price!? :) That's a lot more than $3100, but it's also 18 years younger and ought to last you much longer than the Honda would.

the Hawk is bullet proof, everything ive read says they will go, and go, and go, and go, constantly.

the SV650 i could also find used for about $500 more, but i dont like how they look, the hawk is just beauty on beauty, and its PERFECT for a beginner.

It's just too expensive for a bike getting on 20 years old. Just get a used SV650 or something, you'll get over the looks in a few days.

I currently own a Ninja 250. For commuting and gas - not speed, although it's adequate as far as speed goes.

Anyway, my next bike will be a BMW F650, have you looked at them? It's not a total street bike, as it can also be used for some off road excursions, but does well at either.

The Honda looks dang good for an 88, though.

Sorry for being off-topic again, but what do dirt bikes get in terms of economy with road tires and a road gearset? Like a 125cc 4 stroke.

if your a beginner the hawk may be a bad idea for the sole reason of replacement parts. you will at some point drop the bike and parts for a hawk are HARD to come by, this is one of the reasons im selling my bandit.

an ex500 would be my reccomendation, i have one and its a great bike with lots and lots of parts availability.

i have a 91 suzuki bandit 400 in primo shape if your interested :D :D

They are nuts if they try to sell that for 9K. The Ninja 650R is only 6.5K.

There is no comparison between a supersport class bike (CBR600RR) and a sport standard (Ninja 650R).

Don't let the engine size fool you. The CBR600RR is a race bike with lights. The Ninja 650R is a good starter commuter bike.

Forget the Hawk GT. For unique...Ducati Monster or KTM Duke. For fun a BMW F-Series.
For silly fun a Kawasaki KLR 650.

It's a good price. An Ohlins shock is about $1000 new as it is. Looks clean. I think it's a good buy

Personally, I would rather look at a early 90s nighthawk 750 if your into honda styles like that

Very similar look, and you can find them in great condition for around $2500-2800

$3100 for that bike is just to much...it's a little rare but if I were to consider it along with a other basic begineer bikes...it wouldn't come out on top

I also liked the ex500...wonderful bike for a begineer
