you know, you could just politely ask her if you could watch some Family Guy.

If she says no, then you can break out some of the above posts.

Sort of reminds me of my problem w/ my room mate...

He invites his girlfriend over, and they don't simply stand around/sit and converse...No, the girlfriend starts doing something like "feeling bad" (she doesn't really) to try to get my roommate to notice and hug and rub her, and they start making out with me in the room...And anytime she's not at my dorm, my room mate's not there, he's with her. I never really see my room mate except for my tuesday night class. He's always w/ his girlfriend making out/sex0ring/etc. Not to mention, the girlfriend is a drama queen from hell, crying if anything is ever said about her, around her, about anyone else, or about anyone she might know. She also dislikes being more than a foot away from my room mate in a public place (waffle house).

Etc etc

I've learned to deal with it, I just live w/o a room mate now :p

they don't make out, but she is an attention whore like no other. We can't watch any movie without her giggling and squeeling and demanding attention from him at all times..

I could care less if they go somewhere else and do it, but it's fscking annoying when us (and other friends) are trying to watch tv..

When I walked in and saw her sitting there I was like "where's rob"

she goes "he's in class, he said I could watch your tv"

so I knew what she "wanted" to watch.

this girl can be quite psycho at times

Hmm, tough spot you're in.

I'd try to be as casual and glib as possible. Walk in, say, "Hey Sandy," while walking over to the remote. Then, while putting in the DVD: "Mind if I kick back with ya? I just got this damn TV and haven't had a second to watch anything on it, I'm UBER STOKEDZ0RS to catch up on some Family Guy before I have to go to bed tonight."

If she raises any fuss suggest catching the rest of American Idol in the other room. Basically, the key to being polite in North American circles seems to be to state your orders like they're suggestions/questions. :p

Just tell her you don't mind her watching your tv, but when you want to watch something she and your roommate need to go elsewhere.

I always check with my roommate if he's in the room before using the tv. I think it's just common courtesy, but what do I know?

Your roommate and his gf both LIVE with you or what? Is she just there or does she actually LIVE there too ... ? Unless she is paying rent she has say in NOTHING! It's not like she's living with her parents. When I lived with my parents I expected them to let me use everything for free... but I would never go to anyone else's house or apartment with any expectations that's for damn sure.

Especially considering you spent that much $$$ on the TV I think you should be able to watch it whenever you want. It's not like she's paying you in any way to be there so she really doesn't have any say. You being polite would just be a luxury for her. Whether you're polite or not really does not matter, IMO.

When I'm at someone else's place I watch what they want to watch, unless they specifically give the choice to me .. people who just assume they own the place and do what they want friggin piss me off. Savengy bastids.
