On TV, everyday, I hear all these African-American dudes bragging about being "thugs" or some other slang, so what am I suppsed to think? They're not "thugs"?

You're supposed to think they're not ALL thugs. just the ones you see on tv. In other words, being a thug pays.

The problem is, as long as the black community allows itself to be snowed by crap like this, someone else just like him will fill his place. Same bullsh!t, different face.

Hehe, look @ Al Sharpton... There's a fine upstanding leader.

The killer for me is when Colin Powell & C. Rice are labeled as coconuts (dark on the outside, white on the inside) or sellouts. Fvck, they're awesome...

This is another major problem within the black community. Those who try to integrate into the mainstream, try to speak proper English, get good grades and dress normally are ridiculed and called names like "Oreo" and wannabe white boys. I've personally seen this attitude more times than I care to remember.

It seems many blacks have equated academic success, proper English or anything mainstream as "white" and have abandoned them. In doing so, all they do is segregate themselves from society and ensure they will never succeed.

it's all demographics, just keep in mind most homicides are done by whites (even in places where white folks are a minority) if it makes you feel better.

UM, actually, NO. More than 50% of homicides during 2002 were committed by blacks (who make up some 12-13% of the population) according to the FBI UCR. If you had read the thread, you would see that I linked to this.

From my experience with black friends growing up, it seems as they always use the black card whenever they don?t get what they want or not able to achieve. At the same time, I felt that they?re a lot more racist at least vocally racist towards other races. They seem to point out that they?re black and then there?s everyone else that?s against them. They?ll be the first one to point out that I?m a Chinese even if I?m not. Always calling people ignorant when they in turn are so much more ignorant. We use to go off on each other when I hear them say really ignorant things.

I hope I did. Seems as the more educated they got, the better they are about doing these things. Making excuses when they know they don't deserve it. Same time, if they could stop using all the racial terms, then people would perceive them with more equality and not towards their race.

You can wallow in these isolated cases of racism and use them as excuses for failure and reasons to not integrate culturally, or you can choose to succeed in spite of them.

Which will it be?

So far, too many in the black community have chosen the former.

yeah but dont be confused. I dont let these things rule my life or work hard at making myself better. It is still a problem that cannot be ignored. Would I say its the biggest problem that the black community faces NO, but its in the top three.

OK, I'll go along with that. I'd say it's #4 on the list.
#1 is what Bill Cosby was talking about.
#2 are the so called "black leaders" who perpetuate this BS and
#3 is the feeling of inferiority brought on by AA policies and social entitlement programs.
#4 racism

There are problems in everything. If you keep dwelling on it, then it becomes the only problem and excuses you have for not succeeding.
