Frys (Bay area) has a similar combo DFI AD77 Mb (raid + SATA + firewire) + AMD XP2100+ for $149.
Considering the board is price around $96 at newegg seems like a good buy. I am off to frys.

Has anyone found a Fry's ad in the Sunday Houston Chronicle? I just took a quick look, and did not find one.

OMG, they stuck a dfi mobo instead. Pissed deal away. Why can't they have the same deal through all the fry's. This reminds me when they sold out of one mobo, and replaced that mobo with the crappiest they had.

I'd be really wary of the ECS mobo's. Case in point: go to Fry's and see what kind of motherboards are in the Returns line. Most of them will be ECS. THe quality control on these boards are horrible and even though some people do like this board, it seems there are more people who have problems with it.

nForce2 boards are extremely picky with RAM. The PC2700 DDR (samsung chips) which ran flawlessly in my KT333 mobo @ cas 2, 333Mhz failed memtest on the nForce2 @ cas 4 , 333. It will only passed @ cas 3 , 266 Mhz. Its a headache to get the board working but once you have it all figured out, its great. I currently have a 2100+ @ 2700+ on a MSI k7n2G.

Well i got me a DFI & XP2100+ (thoroghbred Rev B) combo . Seems to be working pretty good. Had no problems installing mandrake 9.1 and WiinXp. Everything worked right out of the box. I dont plan to overclock it much but as far as i am concerned, RAID (single channel) + firewire and SATA are features that i would want compared to better overclocking features for the MSI. The retail price on the DFI Mb is $99.99 at Frys. Not a shabby deal at all. BTW I am typing this on my new rig.

I couldn't resist this deal... (blah)...

Anyways the report:

I got away with a T-bred B (AIUHB -- didn't read the build date)
The proc o/c's easily to 2700+ (2166 @ 166 MHz). Just had to set the voltage to 1.65V (it was defaulting to 1.6V)... I'm happy with that, considering I only have a Thermaltake Volcano 6cu on it... In my case (Antec SX1080), runs at 56C under Prime95 load and is stable for several hours. Only concern is that at idle, it's still 53C... Is this normal?

My cheap-ass Fry's 512MB PC2700 DIMM doesn't work for more than a few minutes (Page fault errors), but a combination of Mushkin basic and Kingston 256MB PC2700 DDRs work fine. All the better, since I can squeeze a few percentage points by using 2 DIMMs.

It's surprisingly faster than my old P4-1.8A errr 2.4 GHz, especially doing TMGEnc encoding (which is where the processing power goes most). For that price, I'd say it's a keeper.

The best part of this is that I didn't have to reinstall WinXP. I just removed the Intel Ap. Accelerator, installed the board, and booted. After finding all my hardware, and installing the Nvidia driver package, I was good to go ... well, after reactivating Win and Office, that is ... (good thing MS is open on Sunday).

i got mine at sunnyvale . I think i was one of the first guys since they were not aware of the promotion and had to look up the ad in the mercury times. Anyways , also got them to reduce the cooler master X dream from 24.99 to 14.99 ( asked them to call microcenter) .

My idle temp is 34C and with load is 41C. The fan has a little knob that goes into a empty pci bracket with which u can control the rpm.
I think i can admit to being a happy camper today :). Only problem was a USB keyboard. had to borrow a regular keyboard to enable USB support at start.
