I couldn't resist this deal... (blah)...
Anyways the report:
I got away with a T-bred B (AIUHB -- didn't read the build date)
The proc o/c's easily to 2700+ (2166 @ 166 MHz). Just had to set the voltage to 1.65V (it was defaulting to 1.6V)... I'm happy with that, considering I only have a Thermaltake Volcano 6cu on it... In my case (Antec SX1080), runs at 56C under Prime95 load and is stable for several hours. Only concern is that at idle, it's still 53C... Is this normal?
My cheap-ass Fry's 512MB PC2700 DIMM doesn't work for more than a few minutes (Page fault errors), but a combination of Mushkin basic and Kingston 256MB PC2700 DDRs work fine. All the better, since I can squeeze a few percentage points by using 2 DIMMs.
It's surprisingly faster than my old P4-1.8A errr 2.4 GHz, especially doing TMGEnc encoding (which is where the processing power goes most). For that price, I'd say it's a keeper.
The best part of this is that I didn't have to reinstall WinXP. I just removed the Intel Ap. Accelerator, installed the board, and booted. After finding all my hardware, and installing the Nvidia driver package, I was good to go ... well, after reactivating Win and Office, that is ... (good thing MS is open on Sunday).
