Don't know what happened to that other link, it worked when i posted it. 🙂

Anyways here's another to AccessMicro for $114 if you care. I think they must change part numbers frequently. If this doesn't work, search for "retail 1800" in the search box.

i'm going to print that $107 page for now and hold onto it for a couple weeks before submitting for the PM. excellent link TomSharky. 🙂

For those holding back on jumping on K7S5A combo deals because of limited overclocking options, there's a new BIOS available at OCWorkbench that allows a much greater range of FSB settings than any previous one. Not the 1Mhz adjustments some are accustomed to, but usable and nice nonetheless.

Just finished flashing mine and am running at 147Mhz FSB _WITHOUT_ bus speed changing software (CPUFSB, chfsb, etc.).

just keep in mind that these boards are very much a hit-or-miss proposition
so far from newegg I've got
- 2 running like champs
- 2 that died in under 2 months
- 2 doa

BOA - Very enlightening post . I can get the K7S5A locally for easy return (in Atlanta ) for $59+ &% sales tax and buy processor from newegg or elsewhere.

Why is everyone looking to do their BVG right now for the Athlon 1800+? We have 60 days from the purchase date to use the BVG and the price is bound to drop even more.

BTW.. I was unclear about the BVG ending, so I called a rep yesterday. I guess everything that you want to make a claim for has to be purchased by today, but anything purchased before May 1, will be eligable for the BVG within 60 days of the purchase date. I'm waiting on my BVG for my Athlon chip.

i'm waiting too. was just pointing out that the price has ALREADY dropped a good $20 and it is bound to drop some more. so for those of us who purchased with Amex Blue, this great deal at $165 is getting even GREATER. unlike memory, cpu prices are always going down, never back up. 🙂

I wonder if the price will drop below $34 for the ECS mobo. I can't imagine it getting any cheaper.. At least not more than $10 cheaper.

The CPU's are an excellent thing to use the BVG with. I bet AMEX didn't realize that so many people would be using the BVG on time sensitive stuff like computer parts.
