XP1700+ & ECS K7S5 at Fry's for $149

That is a very good deal! The mobo is good because if you are limited on $$ you can still use your sdram and then upgrade later to ddr.
I have been using this board for 6 months and have had no probs!

ripped from frys.com

I would like to purchase products on-line.

Visit Fry's Outpost to buy online.
If you would like to purchase products over the telephone using the Telesales office at the Sunnyvale store, please call the Sunnyvale store at (408) 617-1300 and ask to speak to the Telesales department.

Interesting to see the post of the telesales # . I guess we out-o- towners can get Fry's specials which Fry's Oupost doesn't seem to have ? . I sure would like to see Fry's B&M in Atlanta .

yeah, we can order on the phone, but we have to have the part # ready. They make it very clear that they are not a specialized for phone ordering. So, with that in mind, PLEASE what is the part number on that 512 DDR for $109!?!?!?!? now THAT is a HOT DEAL in my opinion!

BTW, thanks so much for posing this, it comes in handy for guys like me who pay for college by building and selling computers!

Anyone know if this is good in the TX stores too.... like Houston or Dallas?

Anyone from Atlanta want me to bring them some? I am thinking of going and pick one up. Don't mind one or two extra ones if I end up going.

You also can't return the motherboard alone. I had this problem when I got a DOA ECS. I wanted to keep the chip and return everything else. They said they needed the chip, but would replace the mobo with an already returned one. Be very careful with ECS. From what I've read, try and go for the Black PCB ones. The brown ones are made by PC bytes and suck.

The sale is only for the LA area Fry's, and will expire tomorrow. The ad also appeared in LA Times today.
While this deal is not as hot as the FIC AN11 combo two weeks ago, it is still a good deal nevertheless.
A lot of people seemed to have issues with ECS K7S5A, I think one of the reasons is that its owner's manual doesn't say much compared to other manufacturers', and the board itself has very few overclocking options.

nice price. I bought a few of these about 6 months ago for $189.00. Out of 10 people who have it that I know. none of us has had a problem with the combo. Although we got retail cpu and fan. For $149.00, that's a deal
