<< Operator Error!
Once again..........thousands of people are not wrong.
If it does not work right, the problem is YOU, not XP. >>
Then everyone having problems with XP on Anandtech's forums are at fault? You cannot concieve of one condition in which the weakness, the fault's origin, is the operating system's manufacturer? What drugs are you on, and how can I get some? Earth to dave8311, NO SOFTWARE COMPANY IS THAT GOOD. And Microsoft has a history of releasing buggy operating systems. If they had no problems, no weaknesses, etc. then they would have no need to Service Packs. Oh, Service Packs are added features, right? And which little pill made that the conclusion? >>
not necessarily, but in general, yes. EVERYONE I know who has tried XP (about 90% of the people on my floor on the dorm) has loved it... those who went back to win98 returned. The only issues we have is sometimes when halflife crashes, as was already said, the resolution doesn't always change. I had an uptime of 13 days before I felt a need to change my multiplier

. it didn't feel any slower than when I first booted, and I've been doing lots of poor-quality coding (my stuff still crashes

) - the win98 machines that run my code tend not to live very long.
XP is the best, it runs smooth, its so reliable, and it never freezes.
I've got a question for you.
Have you used ANY OTHER OS on this box? Try win98, if you are so inclined. Try linux. If they work flawlessly, format and try XP again. If it still doesn't work, well, then at least we have some evidence your hardware is functional.
