light grey text on a white background difficult to read or follow

It is the thinness of the font that makes it look light gray. That said, you are right it is gray — dark gray ("color: #191e1e") — which exacerbates the contrast problem needlessly. A slightly thicker font (or bigger font size) in black should go a long way on readability.

Is Tapatalk working for you folks? I can't even log in, much less browse. Keeping getting "Network Error."

My mobile browser experience is practically unusable. Laggy, busy.

also echo the font bring too small/thin

on a 1440p monitor it is really difficult to read

also makes bluer links on the dark theme look quite poor. see my image above, same monitor side by side, the on on the right is a much better use of font size/style

Would be helpful if the forum remembered that you closed them; each time I visit i have to close them....

You can close both sidebars. Hit the menu icon next to the big AnandTech logo up top (the three lines) and click on the 3 vertical dots on the right side of the screen to close the right sidebar.

The root forum page doesn't load this morning. We can't navigate between categories. Until a user provided the direct link to this section, we couldn't even get here to bitch about it. 🙂

We are aware of this issue. One work around we found was to navigate to the main page in incognito. Another work around is to not go to the main forum page, but navigate directly to a thread or forum category

both of these are running xenfro 2. the one on the right is a proper forum layout, the one on the left is not

I agree. I believe the one on the right is the Default theme, or very close to it. It's not the extra columns in the AnandTech style on the left that are the problem - those can be suppressed. It's the layout of the table and the information included in the Default that is superior.

In the Default, the original poster is shown, it's easier to see the number of replies and views, easier to click to the most recent post. IIRC, the New Posts page is also not broken.

There are two serious issues with the update.

1) The right side bars (trending threads and ask the community) force all text into a central column, and create empty space the whole way down. Move these bars to the left side under the contents, and we only lose one side.

2) There is no way to jump into the last page of a thread anymore, it seems I have to click the thread, go to the first page, then navigate to the last page. Why is this?

You can hide the left and right sidebars by clicking on the little tabs at the top right and left of the page (right sidebar is to the right of the big Orange/Blue reply button). Left is to the left of the AT logo at the top left of the page.

"Jump to new" = jump to newest post. Though when I click on a thread that I have read, I am loading at the latest posts that I read.
