Xbox360 vs. PS3 poll!

Man, just when you thought it was over.

Neither for me. It actually kind of funny to sit back and watch the debate with a passive view.

When consoles first came out, the PCs available were definitely NOT gaming friendly.

As time went on, the consoles were able to leapfrog PC technology in graphics and gameplay. Cartridges provided instant joy, instead of waiting for first floppies then CDs to load.

Now consoles are based on PCs. They use DVDs (or similar). The only difference is they plug directly into a TV instead of having to do some finangling like with a typical PC.

I'd much rather have a HTPC on my TV than any console. To me there's just no reason for consoles any more.

*shrug*

more powerful? spec wise?

I would have to say the PS3. i mean it coming out atleast 6+ months after the xbox360, and more likely 1+ year. It better damn well be more powerful.

however apparently its very hard to program for (just like ps3) so it may be a while before we see it taking advantage of the power.

if PS3 is less powerful than the xbox360, coming out AFTER the xbox360, that will just be sad.

Xbox360, because it's easier to code for.
You can have all the power in the world, but if you can't code for it, then it's useless.

They said the PS2 was hard to code for too, but I guess people picked it up.

but xbox still looks better than the PS2. just compare multi-platform games. they always look the best on xbox, then usually gamecube, then ps2.

There's a quote from John Carmack saying PS3 is more powerful. But he likes XBox360 more because it's a lot easier to develop compare to PS3. I believe the link to the quote can be found in Bluesnews.com.

edit: link. I guess the original quote is from G4.

John likes Xbox360 more.

Did you read your post above this one? The PS2 was released in the US October 26th, 2000. The Xbox release date was November the 15th, 2001!!! Of course it's better!!

QFT!!! If Pepsi wasn't giving me one, I would have no interest in the Xbox 360. The fact that Microsoft decided to pass on HDDVD really killed it for me.

Which system will produce better graphics.

it makes absoutly no fvcking difference which one has better graphics, ITS ALL ABOUT THE FING GAMES

That's not really true, or I'd still be playing Tecmo Bowl.

i play my SNES and NES more then my Xbox and PS2

why is that shocking, the games for the NES and SNES are 11ty fing billion times better then the ones that are out now, and there are more of them

OP, you forgot to add "Who Cares" to your poll. Add it and I will vote. I am sure a lot of others feel the same way. For me, I will be more interested in which can give me the functionality of XBMC (or even more). My PC and laptop sometimes give me problems with different types of media files. My modded Xbox palys everything I throw at it ... no questions asked.

The last two generations of consoles have all been pretty mediocre, IMO. Current generation computer games aren't so great either.

Multiplayer games are a must for me, therefore, I have to go with XBox360. Don't know much about multiplayer in terms of Sony.
