Xbox or PS2 that's the question..

Which has more value, any deals that i can jump on. I am a costco member.
Which has more games on it. I know the XBOX is more upgradable, what's teh pro's and cons of it.

I have a laptop that i use all the time. The desktop is a 1.4ghz AMD TB running at 1050mhz its got an ATI radeon 9000 on it. Too much to upgrade to get that up to gaming spec, plus i like the idea of console gaming.

it may not be as moddable as the xbox, so you can get one for cheap in a few months if you want that funcionality

xbox = xbox live

Out of the two I'd go PS2 in a heartbeat, but personally I've got a Gamecube and I love it.

i also suggest waiting for ps3 or xbox 360, then if you still do not want to go with either of those, you could get an xbox or ps2 for dirt cheap.

i have a gc, xbox, and ps2 and never really use them...ever...

BUT back in the day I used the xbox regularly, not for games but for xbox media center -- its really good at playing back divx files on your tv...so I vote for xbox.

Halo/Halo 2, Unreal Championship 2, Forza, Ninja Gaiden, Jade Empire, Fable. Any game on both like Burnout 3 is better on Xbox (controller, graphics, load times). I doubt the Xbox lags down half as bad as the PS2 does in GTA:SA. Sports games are about equal.

Graphics are better, online play is better, better to mod. And the controller is 10x better than that crap PS2 controller. The analog triggers proved to be very useful for racing and FPS games IMO. The dual analog control is better suited for the majority of games rather than the goidy placement on the PS2, plus they feel like they have more resistance. AND they have 4 player support right off the Xbox with breakway controllers with LONG cords. I think MS did a lot of things well with the Xbox.

edit: I don't know of anyone buying a PS2 now. The mini one was talked about for a few but when people play Xbox they are more impressed from what I've seen. People want to buy a Xbox now. Those old PS2s are dieing hahaahha.

i myself was siding teh Xbox for a while.. the 4 controllers help a lot, on top, i love the media box idea. I am not much into playing xbox live.

Also checking out craigslist for used xboxes.. there are some guys selling it with games for a price of new one.. so im shopping around.

My problem with XBox is that I've never liked a FPA without a keyboard/mouse.

Considering 99.98% of XBox's good games are FPS', to me it sucks more than Michael Jackson at a latchkey meeting.

get a modded xbox if you don't play live - i really didn't like it - plus, there are other ways to play xbox multiplayer (Kai etc..)

i have a 250Gb harddrive in my xbox - you can store tons of stuff on it so you don't have to switch out DVDs/games etc..

check out xbox-scene.com for more(almost too much) info. And, there are several people here who can mod one or sell you a modded xbox.
