Is there any way to get Xbox live working with a wireless ethernet connection? Like if I get a Wireless Access Point and use a patch cable to hook it up to the Xbox? I don't want to have to route 100ft of Cat5 through my attic. 🙁
I know...the concern isnt moving it. The problem is that the XBox is in my room. However, my cable modem is in my parent's room (where the cable line comes in). I don't want to run the wire across our rooms, 'cause people trip on them and even if you run it along the door frame and all that fancy stuff, it looks ugly.Originally posted by: benliong
The thing is that you don't move your xbox all too often, and it just defeats the purpose of having WIFI for it. I use WIFI for my laptop but normal wires for all my other machines. Connections are still after with ethernet cables.

Sounds like it will work but have you considered the bottleneck of the wifi connection? I don't know if you need the full 100mbps of an ethernet connection, but it could possibly create lag in your gaming.

WiFi is 11mbps with realistic average throughput of 2-4mpbs.
Dunno about you, but I'd be hard pressed to find a broadband connection that gives you THAT kind of bandwidth...
