Got home from school today and tried turning on my xbox and it wouldnt power up. Gave MS a call and guess what, since its after their 90 day warranty they cant do anything except take $200 off my hands and fix it. Great to get somthing and have it break a month after the warranty is up.

Ok I just got off the phone with a lady at the Toysrus head office and she was a real bitch and basically did nothing. Now visa will give me some $$$ but they need an official repair estimate. The problem is the only place that repairs xboxs is MS. How am I going to obtain that estimate if they are the only ones who can repair it and they are how many miles away? Overall I am very frustrated and am pissed off at the way I have been treated. I have been on the phone being very polite and 50% of the people ive talked to have treated me like an asshole.

Rumours abound of an impending price drop. Wait until E3 and maybe just buy a new one instead. If it does not drop by E3, then they are probably going to hold out for a bit longer.

that sucks

this is hardly ethical, but you could do a switcheroo with Walmart. Buy a new one and put the old one in the box and return it.

Your suggestion is not appreciated. Please take a week off to think about your ethics.

dam that sucks. Don't you get 1 years warrenty on it? We get 1 years warrenty here in England........

XBox prices dropped in Canadian stores today, so it should only be a matter of days (at the most) before this happens in the US.

Wouldn't Walmart notice that the box and system have completely different serial #s, production dates and so on?

You could probably put an N64 in there and Walmart won't notice.

actually, I had purchased an Xbox from walmart on launch. Production date was 10/30/01 and the date of purchase was 11/16 if I remember correctly. Two weeks later, I learned of the Virgin megastore AMEX 30% deal, so I bought an Xbox from there for $210. I kept the original Xbox from walmart(had my Halo gamesaves on the HD), and took the sealed, new Xbox back to walmart to return. It had a production date of 11/21 and I was worried on my way to the store that they might say something, but they didn't notice at all. heheh.. I took it home on the 16th but it wasn't made till the 21st. 😛

im not a person of ethics

but that is wrong.

but that is wrong.

I bought a sealed Xbox, and I returned a sealed Xbox. How is that wrong?

I could have returned my used Xbox and still not have been wrong, considering I had a receipt and it was within the return policy.

its still unethical and fraud.

This is america, when no one helps you, you help yourself 😀

that little serial # sticker is suppose to stop u from swapping systems? hm. target does a scan on the serial #when you buy and return the system.

btw, i use a hair dryer every morning to comb my hair. it has so many purposes. cough cough.

don't screw somebody on ebay. As unethical as it may be, microsoft will more than likely give the company to whom you return it to full credit. Worst case scenario (and we get this ALL the time at my kmart): bring your xbox in original packaging to kmart (without receipt) and say you need to return it for defective reasons. Without a receipt, they will only allow you to exchange it for the exact item. Therefore, it's a legit exchange and everybody wins.
