u cant compare xbox and 3Dno.
Edit: let the thread die. come back in a year and well see where the xbox is sitting.

Ooh, PS2 fanboy posting a XBox sucks page. Bet his a$$ has never even played an XBox.
I bet 75% of all the people who bash the Xbox have never played it or have played it less than 15 minutes.
I personally have owned a PS2, an Xbox, and a Gamecube. In that order, and I would only have one system at a time. In the end I decided that the Xbox had the games I wanted and was the best "bang for my buck". And it is! Got rid of the Gamecube and have been happy with the Xbox ever since.
Regardless of what console you prefer, you owe it to yourself to try them all out. They all have thier strengths.
If I could afford it I would own all three systems, but since I can't I will be very happy with the Xbox.

Thank you. I wish I could have described it that elegantly. I could bash the PS2 as well but I'd just be an @$$hat because I've never owned one. (I had the opportunity to play all 3 last Christmas and we played the hell out of the XBox, lil GC, and almost no PS2) To each his own, otherwise shutup.

My opinion about the past year in the console arena.
xBox- not a failure, but could have done a lot better if..
1. Should have been $199 at launch. I think this would have hurt Sony more than it would have hurt Microsft.
2. Should have had somw TIVO like functions at launch.
3. Should have included DVD playback in the box, preferably progressive scan.
Given the fact that at launch there weren't many games to justify purchasing an xbox, I think these added features could have improved the installed base considerably which would put them in a much better position today. The xbox basically already has the hardware to do these things so not implementing them seems like a mistake to me.
The coming year..if they can sell the xbox2 cheap enough there might be some hope, but it will be very hard to generate the level of excitement that existed last year at launch. As far as the online aspect, I think it will be a total failure so I hope they aren't counting on it too much.
Gamecube-close to a failure but could have been an outstanding success if some of the very hot games that are coming out now had come out at launch time, when there was lots of interest in the game console market, what with the xbox hype and all.
The coming year..Critical to sell lots of Gamecubes this holiday season and tie Gamecube games to Gameboy Advance games. I think that given Nintendo's history they will succeed. They also are not competing with Sony as directly as Microsoft is so they can possibly coexist with the PS2.
PS2- This is the game console commodity. Millions of people probably don't even know there is any other game console on the market.

IMO the ps2 has hit its peak and is on its way down.
I was going to say that u were wrong about the millions' ignorace of other consoles but the masses are asses.
They gamecube is not really even competing with antything. its just out there. (I'm about to buy the gamecube so dont think Iam bashing it. how can u beat a portable next gen sys for under 300?) The ps2 has nothing for me to look forward to. not a single game. its current lineup is killer but after that theres nothing that inrigues me that isnt coming out as a better version on the x box.

i think Gamecube deserves a lot more credit that we're all giving it. If you've ever the chance to play on one, SSB still remains one of the greater party games of all time, and games like metroid prime and resident evil really help dispell the myth that the system is only made for kids. im not saying its better than the other two, but there seems to be a great deal of undue stereotyping going around.

Gc is pretty bad if u are in the mod scene. neway, Im getting my platinum GC shipped on wed. hooray for me! now i am going to have all 3 systems. There will be no game that I will miss out on! and I finally get to beat eternal darkness. now all i need is a platinum lcd screen and battery for my complete iced out portable GC for $300! (GC=$100, screen=$100, battery=$50, 2 wavebirds=$50 for all u math majors).
well a big failure of the ps2 is that for programmers i've read that its got a really odd way to program for it, that is much more difficult than gamecube and especially xbox.
xbox pretty much is just stripped down winxp and direct 3d. much easier to program for. plus the ps2 graphics and sound are way behind both the xbox and gcn. give xbox and gcn some more time and well we'll see.
gcn and xbox cater to different markets anyways. gcn is more for kids, outside of the sports games , and the xbox is more for the teenage and over crowd. playstation i think caters more to the same markets as both, but more towards the xbox end, as they have less franchises than nintendo.
thats why i think nintendo will always be around, as they always will have pokemon, mario, zelda, metroid etc, and well now sonic as well.

The x-box is doing fine.
Microsoft has 40 billion dollars in CASH. They have to spend it on something.
This is not about money to micrsoft, it is about maket share and they are gaining.
Who cares about what they buy in japan, I wish they would stop selling xboxes in japan altogether.
I am sick of waiting a year for a game to be released in the us or not released at all, after it is released in japan first.

The game player could care less how easy it was to write the game. The Xbox just makes it easier to write crappy games. The problem with Microsoft's strategy was technology over games, ease of programming over content.
