Looks like crap IMHO. Like they tried to do an Apple design, but they ain't Apple. Not that much smaller than the current Xbox if you use the size of the DVD slot as reference.

why do you care? it is a AMD Dualcore, R520 computer. the fact they can fit all that heat generating crap in there without making it the size of a tower case and make it louder than a rice burner with those fake turbo noise makers is pretty good.

also, it's around 3/4 the size if you take the dvd slot as reference. ther is jsut no way 512mb ram, a hdd, a dual core amd processor and a dvd drive and a psu to power all that will fit in aslim ps2 size case.

And did you guys notice - on the one REAL shot from ourcolony - the side has a 40GB attachment to the side. Looks like a removeable 2.5" HD. And it does look really G5'ish for some reason. I like it though - it's slick. It'll fit a lot better than my XBox does, that's for sure.

I think this is just a tease. The name, the look, new features, are all gona blow us away when they preview it on that MTV special.
 
I don't like how it looks. The design is aethestically crappy to me. IF it plays games that might be another story 😉

Makes me wonder on PS3 design

The only consoles whose design I REALLY liked was the SNES and the PS2. Especially the PS2~ its design made it so you can toss it into an entertainment center and it looks like your other stuff...blends in well and looks sleek.

But hey, I thought the PSX looked ugly (not as ugly as the N64 though) but i still had a blast playing final fantasy and other games on it.

as for those about the name...i think 360 is going to be the name although I really think its a stupid name since it implies things ina 3d world....which we ALREADY have...maybe "realistic 460 degrees of motion in everything..." which would be cool if it implied playing lets say forza and driving off a track into a city and then getting out and ordering a pizza or something and when they ask for the money you just run away...

no wait that GTA 😀

Those were development mockups. (The ones we saw anyway) There were those shots from Ourcoloy that showed similar orientation and configuration to the current controller though.

I just wish the button placement for the black/white buttons was a lot better - hopefully like the development mockups above the L/R triggers.
 
Looks really good in my opinion... I wasn't surpirsed that they went with the aluminum G5 look... hey, the Apple G5s are used as Xbox 360 game development units! I also like the name... much better than Xbox 2, and sounds better than Xenon, though I like how Xenon looks in typing... not how it is said... every time I say it, makes me think of a certain 'warrior princess'. Sort of glad they didn't go with the white-plastic concave case I thought they were gonna go with.

on another note, the most recent issue of WIRED says something about Sony (along with other comapnies) developing the Cell processor for the PS3. I knew it was going to be "fast", but they listed the speed at 260 gigaflops. Is this a typo?
 
Note the complete lack of controller ports on the front = Wireless controllers standard (though the dark plastic makes it seem IR-based rather than Bluetooth as many had speculated.)

Also note the removable 40GB harddrive on the side...surprised its that big actually (I thought they would use a 6-8GB drive similar to those used by iPod minis.)

I'd hope the dark plastic window is for the dvd/mediacenter remote and not the controllers. I seriously doubt they'd use IR controllers.
