Xbox 360 death with 5 minutes...

Sooo... My brand spanking new Xbox 360 which has been laying in my room unopened for almost 3 months got opened and used today...
And under 5 minutes of use it froze up... If you guys had experience with a Xbox 360 the start up screen tells you to select the language -> Name -> maybe some other settings and then the screen gets to the family control part. It locked up on this part...
So I turned it off thinking it was a fluke and messed around in the menu again only to have it freeze up. I tried playing Project Gotham 3 and it locked up. I put in the intercooler thingy (to cool the Xbox 360) and it lasted a few minutes longer in PG3 before it locked up again...
WHY do I always find more reasons to hate Microsoft...
Btw this was a April 2006 built Xbox 360 so I don't get free warranty, but it is just under that 90 day warrany...

Cliff: Brand New Microsoft Xbox 360 lock up within minutes of use. More haten' towards MS.
 
My regular Xbox died the first day that I had it. I just returned it for a refund and bought a PS2, which wasn't that good of an idea either.

We get that all the time but with even more expensive items - like $1500 laptops. "Why can't you return it? While I bought it 4 months ago I didn't open it till yesturday. Why are you guys being so unreasonable?"
 
wow that never happened to mine...you must of got some crappy first ed 360..that is really dumb why would you not open it when you got it...why open it 3months later

Well I didn't have any games for it and was going to get a HDTV or sell it. That's why I did not use it. Besides am I complaining about how I can't return it or get it warrantied? Nope... I guess you monkeys just want to type some hating messages towards me... I guess you guys go into threads, post some nasty comments and then leave... Okay...

Btw I got it for ~$300 so it isn't $400...

Anyways, back on topic, I don't think letting a Xbox 360 sit around for almost 3 months would kill it right?

I did not have any games for it and was waiting to either get a HDTV or to sell the system. No offense, but when I looked at the play list for the Xbox 360 it wasn't very intresting at all. I did get a Xbox 360 on release day just to beat Kameo, PDZ, and some other game. Then I sold the system.
Only a few games caught my attention that I haven't played yet, but the future games coming out soon were the main reason why I wanted to use the Xbox 360 now.
For example, Gears of War, NFS: Carbon, maybe Splinter Cell Double Agent (but i'd rather have it for my PC -> 7900GTX > Xbox 360), Forza 2, etc...
Would you guys stop saying OMG Trikat did not open his Xbox 360 right after he got it so he is an idiot... That isn't the point here... Actually I do not see how that is even relevant.

ATOT is brutal, but you should have at least tested it out when you got it to make sure it works. Good luck. Hopefully you can do something about it.

Heh, but it makes perfect sense to get a Xbox 360 for ~$300. Why buy it from BB/CC when there is tax on top of the MSRP. Why buy it from an online store for $400 shipped or + shipping? I'd say ~$300 for a Xbox 360 is a supurb deal that is irresistable. Heck it is even lower than refurb Xbox 360 on eBay!
Anyways that's why I bought it because of the price. Also there wasn't any really good games out at the time so I put it in the corner of my apt...

While investmests are noteworthy and commendable in other arenas, investing in video games is a lsot cause period.

You should have sold it, kept the money and bought the system for cheap later when you finally could use it.

edit: after rereading your pots, it looks like you did sell it and appearantly bought another one but you never stated that....or soemthign like that...not sure.

yep dumbest thing i've heard of in a long time. especially if you read the forums and see how the 360's are failing regularly, I would at least test it out while it's still under warranty. they aren't exactly cheap.

Yea I sold the one I bought and played. Again no good games so why not sell it for a profit while it is still in high demand? 🙂
True that gaming is perhaps a lost cause and lotsa people rag on gamers, but I try to limit my gaming. That is why I am anti MMORPG and I also am picky on what games I choose. Having only played 3 and only beat 2 Xbox 360 games I'd say i'm a lite gamer. I try to keep up to date on gaming and technology news and heard MS won't be lowering the price on the 360 (all just only words that can change) anytime soon. 🙁
Another reason I decided not to sell it just to buy the 360 at MSRP. I probably won't sell the refurb/used Xbox 360 that I will probably be getting from MS since the good games are finally coming out and perhaps the HD-DVD might be a good investment.
