Makes Sense. With Nvidia still pursuing an integrated solution with AMD, and AMD's low cost structure, how can Intel compete?

I gave my friend a new x box, with halo and all that crap... and luckily I didn't get one, it pauses and say please wait like every other screen.. it's annoying.. hope they put a 10 GB cache on that stuff..

Interesting, but I also dont think it will happen. Why? Because I personally don't think the x-box will last much longer. Not that its bad but.......well.......actually........yes....its bad. Too big and no decent SW. Would be interesting to see an AMD box tho. :)

Hehe Well you know why it pauses so much onscreen don't u? It's a MS product ;) j/k
I heard that MS is trying to develop their own cpu/gpu solutions cause the nVidia chips while good, were just too costly, so if that's the case then we might be seeing another graphics chip inside along who knows what.

The Xbox is not a bad piece of kit though when you think about it, it has a GF4 gpu and a p3 733 along with ram and a big hd. It's basically an integrated pc but it costs alot less than buying a new pc with those specs today.

The rumor a couple of days ago was Microsoft was planing on making their own processor and GPU for the Xbox 2, here's the link to that story. I don't think anyone or any site knows for sure what Microsoft will use in the next Xbox.

none of the several x-boxes i've played on have had pausing and loading very often. there are loads every so often during a level, but they are pretty spaced out. it's really no different from half-life, or a lot of other games. don't blame stuff on the console when it is simply a game design decision.

Well wasnt their talk with the first Xbox for an AMD solution. With AMD, Nvidia, and Microsft's tight relationship these days I think it would be hard to dismiss an AMD processor for MS next console. AMD's main weakness is that I dont believe it can ramp up production to meet the demands of a console. That is one of the biggest reasons Dell doesnt use AMD processors.

I haven't seen this at all...it sounds like your X-box is defective. By the end of the year, the X-box will be the only thing console people with DSL/cable will buy. Everything else will be obsolete.

It's useless, I don't know why Sony even bothers. With the PS2, each developer has to write not only the network code, but they've got to establish and maintain an online presence for gamers to meet and play.

Microsoft does all that for the developer. All games will use a single system, paid for and run by Microsoft. Implementing multiplayer on X-box is comparatively simple (when compared to Gamecube and PS2), because once the game itself has local multiplayer capability, Microsoft offers a module in their development kit that extends network(Internet) support for multiplayer. Such is the reason why a Microsoft executive suggested several months ago that 90% of all new X-box games by the end of the year would support Internet gaming. You'll never get that on the Gamecube or PS2, because 1) the network hardware must be purchased separately, 2) the developer must write their own network code from scratch, 3) the developer must maintain an online presence or portal for gamers, 4) the developer must pay for the bandwidth needed by any site for games, and 5) there will never be more than a small % of PS2/Gamecube owners with the network add-on kit.

i have a ps2 because of the games

when i pick up a console game i just want to turn it on and start playing

if i want to play online i do that on my pc

i probably wont buy the PS2 HD / NIC kit because i already have 20 other games that i can play without going online

:D

The last rumor I heard was that MS was ditching NVIDIA entirely. I don't put much stock in rumors.
