Seven hundred for a video card? Pfffft! That's a friggin' joke! The whole idea of charging over retail price for these cards is a joke. Yeah, I know, they're hard to find. Well that's a bunch of crap. We're not talking about a limited edition here. The only reason they're hard to find is because the manf's aren't making them fast enough.

Oh, and *not* hot. It's over MSRP so it's not even close to a deal.

Although I think these are ridiculous, I always welcome the newest and the most expensive cards, because they will cause the "older" cards to drop in price.

I actually preordered one of these the day ATI released that they where going to make it. I ordered it from ATI.com for 549.99 - 10%, so just a hair under 500. They said when it released that it was set to be on the shelf by Christmas, I emailed them a couple of days ago asking about it and they told me that they had no ETA on the card.

OH well.

Yes, considering you can get dual DVI for under $200 if you go for a nvidia 6600gt card.

you can get some SLI for that money

Yep, heck you could buy 2 6800 GT for that price just about. And probably still beat the x850xt.

thats just pathetic, Ati's and Neweggs greed clearly shows. In my opinion it does anyways 😛

Jason

Its called supply and demand. If your company got 5 of those things per week, and everyone else was selling them for $750 would you sell them for the list of $600 or whatevever, when you knew you could sell them for $700? No, you'd sell them for whatever you could get. Its like those Playstation PSPs going on ebay for tons of money. Its like all those people paying $500 for those closed beta WoW accounts on ebay. Supply and demand. Free market. You are always welcome to move to a communist country 🙂

Its ATI's fault for announcing the chip for sale before they have much quantity of it to sell, doing paper launches. If they would get some stock of it made up and then announce everyone could buy it for a reasonable price. But noooo, they want to be able to beat nvidia's paper launches too.
