It says Temporarily Sold Out. But they're still taking orders and will ship when they get some in. Whenever that'll be.

X850 Pro for $269 - $15 coupon - $43 MIR = $211.99

or

X850 XT for $299.99 - $50 MIR = $249.99 ?

Maximum Supported Resolution (Digital) 1600 x 1200

I know what you mean. The ati.com deal for the AGP x850xt pe for $220 will never be beaten.

Can't see why ATI or nvidia won't release higher end cards with AGP because bandwidth doesn't really matter anyways because as soon as you start using system memory for holding textures, you've got a major slow down coming your way. The next thing that comes up in bandwidth usage is loading of textures into video memory from the ram, and the AGP 8X bus nor the 4X bus are going to get maxed out by textures just yet. When We get around to 512MB/1GB cards (remember, a 256MB card doesn't have 256MB of texture memory, it's actually more like 640MB) then we will have to worry about the limited bandwidth of 4X and 8X. 2GB/s is a fscking load of bandwidth just for textures, thats about half speed of PC4000 ram in single channel mode..

It seems to me they are shooting themselves in the foot by not doing so. I'm not upgrading to a whole new computer system just to play games. It that's what it comes down to screw 'em, I'll just play the old games that my video card can handle until I'm ready for a new system.

They are not doing it to spite you guys. If they invest in a boatload of AGP cards, and it looks like PCIe is the future, they WOULD be shooting themselves in the foot by tying themselves to old technology, with no guarantees of being able to sell these old designs for a good price. If there are too many AGP cards - they are worthless, but keep the numbers low, and you still make a decent buck from a relatively crappy card. Didn't the same thing happen when AGP supplanted PCI - the PCI cards dried up fast, and they pretty much stopped introducing new designs past a certain point. Wasn't that around 98/99 or so?

Wrong, they STILL made PCI cards all the way through 2005, infact I purchased an FX5200 PCI card on ebay and a Radeon 9250 PCI on ebay as well, sure there is a premium over AGP but they still make em...

This card is now showing for $249 with a $50 rebate. I have a p4 2.53 with 768 megs of RAM and a Radeon 9800 Pro. Will I see a significant increase in performance? From what everyone is saying here, $199 seems like a great price.

Nevermind, missed it: "Sorry, an error occurred. The product you requested is no longer available."

These are both > 2 year old cards, what is your point? Nowhere near top of the line = crappy.

I really don't see what "investment" is involved in making more AGP cards when they already have the technology and the assembly line to make them.

How many people need the SLI boost to play their games? How many people are still running mobo's with AGP slots and would like to upgrade?

I think once they flood the SLI market they will come back and make some good AGP cards. Maybe not, but I will be surprised if they don't. In the meantime I picked up a new 6600GT for $110. The days of $400 video cards are behind me, let alone having 2 of them, LOL!!

PCIe and AGP designs are different, it's not a matter of "making" more, it's a matter of "designing" pretty much a new card. NVidia did an experiment with a PCIe to AGP bridge on the 6600GT, but it looks like they are not doing this for more cards for some reason. Might the reason be that they also do not want to undercut the sales of the shiny new 7800's with AGP equivalents, which would have a very similar performance?

So your saying they're not making any more AGP GPU's and never will? If that's the case then I guess I can forget about getting any new games until I decide to upgrade and that will propably be a year or even longer. Heh, maybe I'll have shaken the gaming bug by then. ;)

For anyone who ordered this before chrismas. Call microcenter and have them price match for the 20% off deal they had on the 1st & 2nd. If you have trouble, just mention how their call center was closed during those days. I had mine pricedmatched in under 5 min.. to include hold time. Completely Painless. Microcenter has earned my busness as a normal coustmer. They're just as good as newegg in it's prime.

Yeah, it's probably a very deliberate push of AGP to be a second class solution, even though we all know it is and probably would be a perfectly fine solution for another couple of years. They will make more 6800's, 6600's, X850's etc., but I would be surprised to see any newer designs in AGP. There may be some frankendesigns like the 6600GT, we will see.

There are probably going to be other companies that will design a PCI-e to AGP bridge/converter.

The Microcenter page for this deal is gone, so I can't find the rebate form! Does anyone have a copy? I'm going to call Microcenter, but just in case they give me a runaround, any help would be welcome!
