Actually, the reference was compared to a 9800 Pro.

It looks like ATi wasn't lying. PCIe just got a whole lot sexier--er, more sensible. A64 + nF4 + 6600GT/X800XL looks sweet for new builds.

Since we are seeing ATi branded prices at and below $300, does this mean we may see prices even lower on products from companies like Sapphire and TUL/Powercolor? They have always beaten the ATi-branded pricepoint so we would buy their products.

The 6600GT is maybe 15-20% faster than a 9800pro. Not even a worthwhile upgrade path for anyone with a 9700pro or better.
