the 850 is at least twice as fast in pure FPS...but i assume you were joking ? 🙂

Actually, the reference was compared to a 9800 Pro.

 
Froogle shows Buy.com will sell the X800XL for $300.
It looks like ATi wasn't lying. PCIe just got a whole lot sexier--er, more sensible. A64 + nF4 + 6600GT/X800XL looks sweet for new builds.
 
Since we are seeing ATi branded prices at and below $300, does this mean we may see prices even lower on products from companies like Sapphire and TUL/Powercolor? They have always beaten the ATi-branded pricepoint so we would buy their products.
