If you have read the preview on the X800XL at Anandtech.com, I can't believe that ATI is really going to sell this card for $299. They are going to undercut the X800Pro by about $130 and it performs better than the X800Pro. That would mean that they would have to sell the X800Pro for about $250, with the introduction of this card and currently they are going for about $430. This card is pretty similar to the 6800GT, which sells for about $400. So, it's going to undercut that card by $100 also. If ATI does it, I'll cheer because the price of the entire video card market will have to adjust dramatically in price to account for it. But, until I see it, I don't believe what ATI is telling us. This card would have to be delayed until March or April for the $299 price to make sense.
It's one thing to say, here's a product. Now you have to wait a couple of months for it. Unfortunately, that's basically the norm now days. But IMO, this is a whole new level of BS. Now they are going to give us these ridiculous prices too? Companies think they can feed us this stuff and then not deliver? Maybe they think they can play with our minds to control the vid card market, like we are pawns in their game. I'm not falling for it anymore.

Here's Anand's take on this, from his article:
I agree with Anand and Tom's Hardware. These games are getting way out of hand.
Edit:
Oops, didn't see the other thread about the same card:

I started to write this right after I read the review and that thread wasn't up yet. It took me a while to write it because I've been busy. So, I didn't see the other thread. Sorry about the duplication.
That thread is about the performance and benchmarks, this thread will be about the way we are being treated by these companies.

Here's Anand's take on this, from his article:
If you ask us, we don't know who or what to believe anymore. This past year has been filled of missed releases, missed launches and misinformation. From NVIDIA's Video Processor to ATI's disappearing X700 XT, we're tired of all of it. ATI's promise about X850 GPUs being sold a week after they were launched turned out to be empty as we still can't find any X850 based GPUs available for sale. Even after firing off multiple emails to ATI asking for resolution on the availability matter, we were met with nothing but silence. ATI had no problem answering other questions, but all of our queries about X850 availability have been left untouched. Maybe radio silence will make the problem go away...
We don't think so. The credibility of both GPU vendors has been hurt tremendously this year. Neither side can say that they aren't guilty of the very same things that they accuse the other of doing. It's really a shame because in the end, it hurts their consumers, our readers and makes it much more difficult for anyone, including us, to put faith and trust in what we are told by ATI and NVIDIA.
