Sister is upgrading to PCI-E system and I told her she should sell her 6800nu off because it is loosing alot of value. Anyway she got $85 out of it local and someone has a Powercolor X800GTO PCI-E local for $75. She doesn't want to buy unless it is better then what she had. I've been with Nvidia since Radeon 9800 was top(or almost) dog. So I don't know how this compares to 6800nu.

Same?

An X800GTO at stock speeds should be a little bit below the performance of a 6800GT in most games ... it will be noticibly faster then a 6800nu, however not breathtaking by any means... but considering it won't cost her anything its not a bad deal.

One other thing to take into account is that with many X800GTO's you can flash the BIOS & turn the card into a full 16-pipe X800XT which will beat out a 6800 Ultra, however I'm not sure the Powercolor cards will allow this & the process does have the potential to kill the card if somthing goes wrong.

The best bet currently in an entry level gaming card is the 7600GT which will also outperform a 6800 Ultra while running cooler & drawing less power then any of the above... this EVGA model is a bit more expensive then the used X800GTO @ $129 with a $20 MIR.

I would say suck up the cost now and get the 7900gs pci-express for $149. Its going to cost her $75 more, but the longevity of the 7900gs will be worth it.

with the 8800 series out the x800 is now 2 generations old. not bad, but its already showing its age.
