All I have to say is go for it, there is always something new coming out around the bend.. you'd spend your whole life waiting. The X800XL is a great card for the money and should run any current game to your satisfaction

wow...thats too good to be true, for those that didn't follow the link

$350 Connect3D X850 XT PE

and

Connect3D $75 rebate

The rebate is from Newegg, but it doesn't say anything about where you have to buy the card from and it looks like you mail it directly to ATI for the rebate.

Yeah sick deal rrrRRRR... I wonder if the rebate works 🙂

Juant do a quick search on www.pricegrabber.com for an x800xl... or Pro or whatever card u like and u will see prices are around $260 for an XL AGP... for PCI-E even cheaper (newegg has em for $235 after MIR i think)

i hear the deal is legit, everyone on the amd boards is buying it.
tigerdirect seems to be where to buy.
i cant verify, but i have no idea how someone found all that stuff.

I like my X800 XL. (ATI original X800 XL PCIe). It really performs well.

It seemed like a good deal when I bought it for $280 in March 2005, and its price is less now.

Above, KillerPotato recommends waiting for the next generation of cards due soon. On the other hand, jfall above says to not wait.

If I was buying now, I'd learn what / when new cards will be out. I guess I'd probably wait for the new generation if it's not too long a time, because then you'd have a choice between either a cheaper X800 XL (prices will plumet then), or a new GPU design that might be lots better.

Get it.

Considering ATIs terrible track record for releasing new GPUs with incredibly low yields, I wouldnt expect prices on ATI cards to drop until at least a couple months after the 5xx GPUs release, and who knows when that will actually be.

Its a cool card and will last a while. Do also depend can you wait for the next gen or do you want the power now. Also what if you saved some money can you replace and would that give you more power? This does not include beer we all know that gives more power!

I see everyone saying this card can be had for $250...where?

Monarch has it for $290 and Newegg is about the same.

Best Buy has the APG version for $250

i just bought the pci-e version from monarch for 249 shipped.

Im pretty happy with the card, scored 4964 on 3dmark05 compared with the 36xx that i scored with my 6600gt.

Yes its worth it.

It always seems like people are saying, "just wait a little while because newer stuff will be coming out and prices will drop". Well its the computer industry and newer stuff is always coming out. Just gotta find the most ideal time to buy, and the x800xl seemed at the right time to buy, for me at least.

I picked up the AGP version at Best Buy last night for 250, took back a BFG PCI-E 6600GT that I had bought a week and a half ago, it was 180 after 30 rebate. I hadn't opened it because I am still waiting on an RMAd motherboard from newegg. Gotta love rewards zones dollars, I never would have bought it if I didn't have $130 worth of them.

All in all, much better then the FX5900XT it replaced, probably will be giving that card to my sister.
