What is messy up like??? Sorry but most issues are realted to other hardware or software or just plain users....There is nothing wrong with the chip that messes anything up...

playing some games I get random crashes and so on...plus I have to set affinity every single time...it's rather annoying...I heard that with the patch there is none of that...

install amd driver, reboot, install MS dual core fix, reboot, regedit as described, reboot.

well I just noticed that even setting affinity does NOT make my program run on the core I asked it to run...

I set affinity for 0 and it still runs on both...

Hey Logical One,

You can find details on the hotfix in this thread: http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=28&threadid=1707814&enterthread=y . There are some mirrors listed in the thread for the hotfix as well (so you don't need to call MS).

Make sure you have:

1) Installed the X2 driver (see the AMD site)
2) Installed the hotfix
3) Added the registry key to enable the fix.

Note: none of this applies if you are not running XP 32-bit (Pro or Home). If you are running (9x, 2000, XP-64. 2003. Linux, etc...) the hotfix will not apply to you.

Also, please provide details about your system so that we can help you. These include:

1) Processor (make and model)
2) Motherboard (make, model, bios version)
3) OS (version, service pack, etc...)
4) Ram (how much, brand, speed)
5) Overclocked (yes or no)
6) Video Card (make/model + driver version)
7) What is the problem (detailed description of the "messing up". What is happening? BSOD? Crash to desktop? Stuttering?)

I am a little confussed about the registry key... In the MS KB article, it says to do some reg modification IF you want to disable the "new performance state policy behavior" and need the reduced power consumption.... Well, I dont much care about power concervation, so would this then not apply to me?

EDIT:: Never mind, guess i didnt read it carefully enough

Add the program and the core you want it set to with this program. launch games, apps etc from there. It will auto set it to the core you have checked. No need to alt-tab anymore.
