Well, I have been using this for a while, and it seems to make a difference. Some day, I'll get around to doing testing on BF2 to see how much it really helps. BTW, Letdown just added a kind of permanent high priority option. Does anyone know if this would prevent games from loading to disk unnecessarily?

Yeah, I have done, but I haven't sent it to synthdude yet, so the one available to download doesn't have that option in. I'll email it to him tomorrow, i edited it at work for themusgrat, and didn't send it home :s

Actually, no, scrub that, it is available for download, it was a command line option I added for themusgrat. goddamn.

Bump.

I've emailed synthdude the newer version, it's just got the command line stuff themusgrat was talking about, so you can now launch a game, onto any CPU, with the high priority flag, all with one shortcut click (and a bit of tweaking beforehand)

I also tidied up the readme/help file, as it was a fünkin mess before.

Hope some more people try it out, if there's anything you want adding to it, PM me (or bump the thread! :) ) and I'll do my best to add it into the app.

Good luck with the exams!

I've had a quick run through on superpi, tried 1M, but both got 37seconds (Where can you get it in more detail?)

So, I bumped it up to 8M.

SuperPi.jpg

Left is normal dual core, right is with all processes on one core, and superpi on the other. It was at normal priority.

7:01 v 6:59

Probably easily put down to random variation. Just as a note, I ran the superpi on its own core first, then the standard dual core handling second.

well iam on xp x64 and using the SMP utilization manager, I selected all my processes to watch. What does the different threads mean? Can anyone give me a quick rundown of using this app? thanks.

Have there been any improvements in affinity assignment in windows or something?

Basically is the affinity program mentioned here still applicable? or is there something better out?

bldy marvellous thread here. And, kudos to letdown and synthdude for providing the affinity program!
Now, how can i obtain the program? synthtdudes website is h4x0red! I dont expect letdown to send this to all interested?
So far, I've been using ROPE for changing affinty for my two affinity-demanding games, Quake III Arena and Nexus - The Jupiter Incident, I'm in the process of taking a shot at the THG app mentioned earlier in this thread as it allows automagically cahnging affinty on launch of apps, without need for manual altering shortcuts or doing BAT's!

I'll be happy to test this app out too, and let u know what i think!

LOL, my website isn't h4x0red, it's just between hosts at the moment. ;)

I can email it to you if you'd like.

Sure...but both of you will have to PM me your email addresses, since they're not visible in your profiles and I can't read minds. ;)

Alright, I've sent the program to both of you...my SMTP server started acting a little flaky so let me know if you didn't get it.

Send the program to me and I will put it on my website server and post a link for others to download. Send it to the hotmail email in my sig if you want me to do that. :)

How about someone throw it on one of those yousendit, or similar web sites temporarily?

I've emailed Jason the latest/tidiest/neatest .zip of the app, including the necessary apps to make it work and things. If anyone else wants stuff added etc, feel free to PM me n' post it in here.

I've been making a note of all of the little registry hacks I find online that interest me, and putting those into an app, so that I can apply whichever ones I fancy quickly, and to keep track of them all, so I could add that into the Affinity app as another form, or a seperate app, whatevers clever, if anyone is interested?

Are there any other things people would be interested in? I was thinking of maybe making a transparent toolbar, that autohides too, that you can assign all your most used folders as drag and drop targets onto, something like that might be interesting?

Meh, any thoughts, I'm happy to have a look into, I'm just learning my way around programming at the moment, so any ideas I'm probably pretty happy to research and try to make happen.

@formulav8 You may want to change your sig to read elitecobra AT hotmail dot com or something, so that your address isn't picked up and spammed to hell...

I tried it and there is NO difference in FEAR, HL2, Doom3. I can get a small difference in FPS if I drop down to 640x480, but it's within the margin of error and who plays at those resolutions. My conclusion is this has no effect whatsoever.

Yeh, I tried sending it again, goddamn hotmail was being SO slow.

Do you have Hamachi per chance? May be easier to just FTP it using Hamachi IPs...
