they are both about the same price ~$200, which should i get upgrading from a 3000+. i am not an overclocker, i play some RPG and some FPS, as well as video encodingand photo editing.

Whilte the Opty 165 might give the most bang for buck, the 170 will give a little more flexibility with memory since you have the 10x divider. It'll also be good for a crappy mobo which can't handle such a high HTT/FSB (don't forget to reach 3000g you'll need 333 with the 165/9x multi).
